Unhappy s/c problems

ok my mind is blank i can't think of what the tank that has the anti freeze in it that goes to the intercooler and s/c. but anyway you are suppuse to see the green stuff cycle through the tank i think. well mine doesn't do that, so im thinking the intercooler could be stopped up. all it does is the liquid will rise a little bit but thats it. Is there anything else that could cause this problem and if its not working propertly what damange can it do? if the intercooler is stopped up how do i unstop it.thanks for all the help in advance o by the way i have a 00 L just incase it matters.......chris

Should be easy enough to tell for sure. Take the hoses off and simply blow through it. You out to be able to blow some coolant out without to much pressure.

That would be my first step.

I am by no means and expert, but I do know that you can check the pump and the relay. Try pulling the relay and use a wire to hot wire the pump so to speak. If it starts pumping then the relay could be bad if it does not then maybe the pump or clogged. I do not know which relay it is or which two connectors to jump across. I just know how to do it when we are at the races and I am under my dads hood. Maybe someone will be able to tell you which one if you do not already know. Hope this helps.

Chris,

The intercooler tank is divided in two parts. The coolent should fill the passenger side and overflow into the driver side where the out let is. So the passenger side may look half full but there isn't enough fluid in the system to keep the pump primmed. Not to be funny, try adding some fluid to the system. Remember, the 1999-2000 intercoolers were recalled for leaking!

Check your fuse under the hood. It should be the only blue one in the fuse box!!!

Keep in mind the intercooler pump is temprature controlled. It won't turn on unless the air temp is about 60 degrees or higher as I recall. Here in MI the lows have been in the mid 30s even now

I've heard people have had the electric pump motors go out, too.

Hope this helps.
