In Continuation of Red92's thread
In Continuation of Red92's thread
We had a SIMPLE and GOOD idea to help out fellow L owners ( See it Here ) , and it got closed until the man on top sees it. I personally think thats BULL****. Just because he hasnt seen it yet doesnt mean it needs to be closed. Wasn't that the whole point of Steve seeing it in the first place? To see if it needed to be closed? Sheesh. So Im adding thread #2 to continue what Doug stopped. (Doug, nothing personal, i just think its dumb you closed the last thread BEFORE Steve saw it. You did what you thought was right, and so am I
) I, for one, am for this. And thanks to LOCOSVT, he made some great rules that, with a little tweaking, we could pull this off.

This could work, but it would need some rules. Maybe L-menace or Tim could help with the legal stuff. Off the top of my head I can think of a loosely organized plan:
1. The group of participants will elect a treasurer by majority vote.
2. The treasurer will maintain a separate bank account for funds received from members. It is the treasurer’s option to maintain a separate online account such as paypal.
3. Payments will be made to the treasurer. EFTs to the account will be verified by the treasurer. Verification of payment received will be provided to each member.
4. The treasurer will maintain a list of participants and their status. Active members are up-to-date on payments; inactive members are more than one month in arrears.
5. Each payment will be $20, USD.
6. Members agree to provide the treasurer with the following info:
a. Contact information: Phone, email, and mailing address.
b. VIN number of Lightning.
c. Name of participating vendor.
d. Identification # of vendor approved tune.
7. The treasurer will not release any personal information to anyone. He will maintain a written record of all transactions, with reasonable efforts at stewardship and accounting.
8. The treasurer will verify the tune ID with the participating vendor.
9. When a member has a block failure, he will notify the treasurer. He must provide the VIN and tune ID.
10. The treasurer will announce on this website when a member qualifies for a block replacement.
11. A grace period of 1 month is allowed for members to donate, with the starting date beginning with the treasurer’s announcement on this site. After one month, members not making a payment are in inactive status, and must pay any outstanding payments to be returned to active status by the treasurer.
12. If a member throws a rod while in inactive status, he does not qualify for a replacement block. However, if he is only one payment in arrears, he may present evidence of financial hardship to the treasurer. The treasurer will verify the info, and call for a vote by active members. A simple majority vote will approve the benefit to the member.
13. The treasurer will apply payment from each member to the oldest payout that the member has not contributed to. The member may not select which member’s payout he wants to participate in. If the initial payout has been sent to a member and funds arrive late, the treasurer will make another payment each month, until all members have contributed.
14. Participating vendors will announce on this website their participation. They may use any marketing method to attract active members to use their tune.
15. All tunes must be supplied by a participating vendor.
16. All engine mods must be documented.
17. (Certification) All participants must have the engine dynoed with all mods in place and operating, and with the vendors tune. The results must be verified and approved by the vendor. Nitrous users must dyno with and without nitrous, and both tunes must be approve by the vendor. Any future mods must be recertified at the option of the participating vendor.
18. If the engine fails, the vendor that provided the tune will supply the built block at the going advertised price minus the cost of a tune. They agree to accept terms of net 35 days to allow the treasurer time to collect for payment, and forward the funds.
19. If a participating vendor has an excessive number of members making claims, the active members may vote to remove that vendor from qualification by a majority vote. The active members using that vendor’s tune will have 90 days to recertify with another participating vendor.
20. At the time a member receives his benefit, he must agree to continue to participate for a minimum of two years. If he sells or otherwise disposes of his Lightning, he has the option of making a one-time payment of $100 USD, and will be removed from the list of members.
21. Members will only qualify for one engine replacement, regardless of circumstances.
22. There is no guarantee of payout amount to a member, since members’ participation may vary.
23. The member is responsible for payment to the vendor. The group has no obligation to the vendor for payment.
24. The member has no claim on the group other than the payout received from the treasurer. If the member is not satisfied with his payout, he may review the treasurers books at his own expense.
Variation on this that would work better would have a vendor or website provide the treasurer's function for continuity's sake.
Please wait on closing this thead UNTIL Steve lets us know. And on top of that, I dont see whats wrong with it. Its a thread with and idea to HELP others. Never saw anything wrong with that.

i honestly think that organizing it like that is a bad idea. With that in effect, you have people feeling like they are obliged a free block. I think communities can judge on it's own when they think in consensus that helping someone is called for.
Not to mention that anyone should be able to tell in the end your going to pay in more than you reap statiscally.

1. Doug asked that the thread be closed until I could review it. You decided to overrule the moderator and re-start the discussion, against his request. If you have no respect for my appointed moderator's decision, you therefore have no respect for this site, in my opinion. If Doug requests something and you ignore it, do you actually expect that I am honestly evaluate your request?
2. I don't want the F150online name associated with this in any way, shape or form. I don't want our bandwidth wasted on the inevitable bitch sessions that will come from what some deem unfair treatment. Frankly, while the intention might be good, I think it sounds like a multi-level marketing scheme.
3. This is not a Lightning only site. Try contacting NLOC to see if they might be interested in hosting this organization.
THAT'S THE OFFICIAL WORD.
Now I am back to my vacation.
