Beat a Dodge R/T 5.9........

with my STOCK 2004 Lightning.
Funny thing was, I was on the phone minding my own business. He came up alongside, revved him motor, which the thing clearly had exhaust on it. He took the jump, and I had just started to pull him back in and we came upon traffic and let off. Then, he kept staying ahead trying to get another head start, and I kept flashing my high beams telling him to slow down and get next to me. He finally does, and we go from almost a complete stop. I pulled 3-4 truck-lengths and then slowed up for him. He said he spun. I asked him if he had not spun, if it would have been a good race. He replied, yes. I said I don't know about that....

Bet he won't mess with a Lightning again.

let the R/Ts play with the stock Gen 1's, that would more of a fair playing field

yeah a buddy of mine has an 01 rt and thought it was really quick. He wanted to race so bad. Every time I'd see him he'd talk smack, or ask to race. I said it wasnt even worth my time. I was being serious, it wasnt worth the tires, or the gas... I said I could give you 5 cars and I'd still kill you. So one night we went out on this back road and I gave him more than 5 cars, and the hit, and I eventually cought up to him and blew by him. He was like damn that truck is fast. And I said no your truck is just slow.
Good kill though.

Those things aren't that fast stock. My buddy has an 02 R/T that we installed a Kenne Bell blower on and it keeps up with me just fine.

Blown347Hatch good kill, but you need to race something worth raceing. My buddies mom's buick regal (supercharged) with over 100K miles on it spanked a slightly modded r/t.

Those 3.8L's are nice. Buddy of mine has a S/C 3.8L in his Park Ave.

Aren't those R/T 5.9's a 360 cubic inch motor?
How much HP are they factory rated?

As posted on Consumer Guide= 250 hp and 345 lb-ft w/RT pkg.

Side note = I had the Bonivelle SSEI and the Supercharger died an early death at 70,000 miles, great motor otherwise.

r/t's generally run low 15's stock.
compared to L's upper 13's stock.(generally).

with bolt ons such as
cold air intake, m1 intake manifold, throttle body,
pcm, headers, exhaust, rockers, ignition upgrade, slicks
gets 13's with good 60'.
add 150 shot nos or 9 psi blower gets 12's.

add heads and cam for 35-40 more hp n/a.
go 408 stroker to run 12's n/a.
add 150 shot to run 11's.

pretty much it...tuning becomes a difficult factor with major mods.
