Question Need help Modifying

Unlike everyone else on this message board i dont own a Lightning(which someday i definetly will) but to be honest i cant afford one right now, but i was wanting to modify my 97' flareside to kinda look like a lighting. Everything on the Truck is stock, and was wanting to make it look better. I am wanting to put 20 inch rims on it and wanna a very good tire, but i have no clue on what tires to get. I was thinkin about the Harley Davidson rims, but i dont know. I just need someone to help me figure what to do to my truck to make it look good and run good. I appreciate ne bodys help and advice, thanks.

97 Blue Flareside
4.2 liter 5-speed
Reg cab, short bed

Honestly, save your money. If you are thinking about 20" rims, that's pushing $2,000 for chrome rims and tires alone. That's a nice 10% down payment on a used 01 L.

Mods are an endless money pit. It's only worth it if you love the car/truck to start with. After you're done modding, you're truck will still be slow (4.2 V6's aren't exactly barn burners).

It depends. Are you going for just looks? You mentioned rims....but if you want some easy horsepower, there are some easy and relativley cheap things you can do.

1.K&N FIPK
2.Exhasut/Possibly Hedders
3.Chip
4.Gears (3.73 or 4.10's)

Those things right there will make your truck scoot around town fairly well. No, it wont take an L, but it will have more "spunk".

I dont know too much about aftermarker rims, but just type in some search criteria on google, im sure youll find tons of info.

Tint your windows if you havent. I think it always makes the truck look better, and it protects against UV rays. Chickenears, one of the L vendors here is well known for his "bling" stuff. Find it Here

Maybe a stereo? There are several threads about subs in our single cabs, one thread was just made not too long ago about the probox. Hit up the search here, youll find tons of goodies.

Hope thats some help, good luck

I think that would be a lot of money wasted, especially if you only plan on keeping it a year. And you'll be no closer to owning a real L.

Just to give you an idea, the money you're talking is like 9 months of payments for MY L. Probably closer to a year of payments for a used 99-01 L.
