Heard something, wonder if it's true?
Hey boys and girls. I just scheduled my dyno time and the guy at the shop told me something I would like to relay and get opinions on. This particular shop is called Force Fed Performance. They are a Diablo dealer and they do allot of work with blowers and turbo's. They originally speciallized in Mustang, but have since branched out to Chevy, mostly Camaro and Corvette's. He seemed pretty knowledgable about the SVT products and knew about the crappy rods in the L, the plug spitting problem, and told me about one other weak link I hadn't heard of. He said that the Ford Cats have a tendency to overheat and can actually melt if A/F's run over about 10.9.
He said with the GM cats, he can tune to about 11.7, but the Ford cats wont hold up. He said that the backpressure can build up from the inside material melting and cause the motor to blow without much warning at all.
Have any of you heard of this? I'm especially curious to hear the tuners opinions here. I just put my new JLP tune for the ported Eaton into the L and want to dyno to check my A/F's to make sure I'm safe.

Thanks for the input guys. He laid some BS on my about the irridium plugs having a problem with sluffing off too. I think I'll just get my dyno sheet and run. HEHE

Yes, that clown has no clue. In fact, take a look at some exhaust tips with a RICH tune. Now just imagine that stuff building up in your cats. 10.9 on our trucks is pig rich.
