I need some convincing
I need some convincing
I was all set to buy an 04 L, then I had a look at the 04 f-150 screw, fx4
Now I am up in the air,
Drove the screw, its a dog,
I wish the my dealers would let me try out a Lightning...instead of sitting in it and starting it only
I think that would be all the convincing I need.

What the he!! are you waiting for. I work in the Fleet Department of a Ford dealer and I can have any Ford I want at D-Plan price (except the Ford GT of course), and this is what's in my driveway. The convertible is the wifes car so she'll stay out of my L. HEHE
just get the Lightning, you won't regret it...
oh, and if the lame azz dealer won't let you test drive the L, then tell them you go to hell and you are going to buy at another dealer.
I'd go speak with the service manager immediately. if they still don't consider you a worthy customer, then I'd absolutely take your business elsewhere. definately wouldn't buy a screw there just cause they won't let you drive the L.
for lords sake, it's not like it's a Lamborghini (sp?)
just my .02

WELCOME IRONMAN
First off, You're comparing a race car to a Truck
There is NO COMPARISON or even similarities of the two.
Remember, never judge a book by it's cover.
Until you have owned, driven, modded, raced, and experienced a SUPERCHARGED Lightning, You CAN NOT begin to have an IDEA what you’re missing.
You don't say where you live, why not let us know, and I'm sure a brother is in your area and would be more than happy to give you a ride in his/her Lightning.
YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO BUY AFTER THAT
Of course if you’re looking FOR A TRUCK, then the L is prob not for you. BUT if you are looking for Comfort, Speed, + Looks
(and a King of the Street Performance Vehicle) that can do some towing, Home Depot Runs and Haul A$$ in Beautiful Style,
Then the Lightning is for you.....
I assume you know what color to buy, hehehehehe....

Once the dealer saw that I was a serious buyer, several of them let me test drive. Go read in the 2004 "regular" F-150 section and look at the problems that a new model has. Overall, it's like comparing a muscle car to a station wagon.
I walked into the dealer in flip-flops and shorts and a ratty t-shirt and they let me drive a L no questions asked...they did a credit check and copied my license. I'd go to a different dealship immediatly and when you do buy a L, go back to the original one and talk to the manager. Explain to him how he lost a sale of a $33,000 truck because his salesmen wouldn't let you test drive it!!

Take it from a 39 year old guy that hasn’t had a performance vehicle since 1993 (79 Camaro Z28 400cid built) GET THE FLUCKING LIGHTNING!!!!!!!!!!!
It will do basically anything the 04 f-150 screw fx4 will do. The Lightning can tow up to 5,000lb. It is just an unbelievable vehicle.
My dealer is like yours, I could not test drive the truck. To tell you the truth I am glad my dealer is that way because I am sure many who would test drive would romp on it WOT (NOT good for a new motor that is NOT broke in yet) When I drove my Lightning off the lot it had only 2 miles on the odometer.
So I bought mine without ever driving any Lightning before. It was a truck I always wanted and knew I was going to buy. The interior is unbelievable and in my opinion better then the screw, the material on the seats is nice and the way the seats fit around you body is just seems molded for you and only you.
I had a 4.2 01 XLT Sport (hence the name) and it was a nice truck and rode nice. I thought the one thing that I might not “love” about the Lightning was that it might have a real stiff ride.
I couldn’t have been more wrong. Don’t get me wrong, the ride is firm, very firm and very secure feeling. The best ride I have felt in a very long time. It is not bouncy as you might think for being so firm, just feels right even on real bumpy roads. The steering (I believe the 03 and 04 have an updated steering) is very nice, feels so tight, firm and again it just feels right.
My personal opinion is the 99 – 04 Lightning’s, Gen II’s, have the best body style, and has a lot of character. I bought my L because I don’t really care for the new prototype coming out in a few years.
If it’s a truck you have wanted, not a “wow cool truck” but something you have thought about and really wanted then I say you have to get it and I feel confident you will NOT regret your decision for a moment.
For me it was something I wanted for quite some time and thus the reason I didn’t need to test drive it and MAN I AM LOVING THIS TRUCK MORE THEN ANYTHING BEFORE!!!!!
Good luck on your decision…
