Pulley and Chip at the same time?
Pulley and Chip at the same time?
Since I am Newbie, I am a little confused, to say the least.
I have been doing my share of reading on this board and think that I have learned quite a bit.
One thing I am still not sure of is the Lower Pulley/Chip discussions.
Let's say I bought a 4# Lower Pulley. Will I need a chip in order to use it safely? And let's say I do and get a Flip Chip (for example), will I need to actually dyno the truck? Or can I just call the dealer I am buying the chip from and say .. "Hey, I am adding a 4# lower pulley and have a CAI. Burn me a chip!"
If I bought a Pulley and Chip from the same dealer, could I have the chip sent to me burned already?
Any help on this (Noob) question is appreciated!

Thats the perfect thing to do
Call the tuner of your choice tell them you want a pulley and a chip, let them know what you want and they will take care of you.
They all have have tested tons of trucks with about any compo you can think of, and have stock programs that will work for you.
They will prob tune the chip a little safer than they would if you came in for a dyno tune. Better to be a little extra rich than lean.

So, in other words they can have a chip tuned for me without actually having to see my truck, right?
I can just tell them my mods and they can sent the chip to me tuned already?

I think the guys have said it well.
If you don't have a vendor of choice yet, just call a vendor or 3, see what they have, I think the 4# and a flip chip are the best,safe, basic mods for the buck and should be done together.
any of the supporting vendors (at least all I've dealt with) can set you up right

allows you take advantage of your mods & safely cruise all day with the flip of the switch you have the more aggrissive tune for racing. no crawling under dash to change chips back & forth
And if you do get a pulley, make sure the vendor sends along a torque converter lock-up tool and a correctly sized blower belt.
That's the kinda stuff that'll make an install take a couple of days waiting on parts, as opposed to a couple of hours.

It's real bad when my Dad stops over & shows me how well the one that came with it fits if you pay attention.You know you messed up bad when an 84 yr old shows you how to put a blower belt on:o
