Angry Anyone having issues with the PAINT on the grille/headlight trim? I AM

Right after I bought the truck in October, I noticed the paint flaking off the trim next to the front marker lights. After a week of frustration with the dealership body shop and alot of pissed off phone calls they finally got it painted. First time I took it in it was there 3 days and not touched. Then when they said it was done, they missed the spot I brought it in about! Then they said it was done again, and I go in and they used touch up paint on the spot! I was so pissed I could have spit nails!

So today I go to install the Silverstar bulbs and the passenger side headlight was being extremely stubborn. Come to find out, the trim ring is some how out of alignment internally. And guess what, now I have lots of visible paint flaking off!

Looks like this material has no primer or anything underneath for the paint to adhere to. Gonna have to take it in next week so it is ready before WFC. Anything I should ask them to do? Anyone else having a problem? Open up you hood and look at the edge of the paint grille trim ring and see if it is rough on the edge or flaking.

I wanted them to order a whole new piece last time and they wouldn't. Any suggestions???

The painted piece around the grille/headlights shown below is what I am talking about:

Just get them to order you a new grille/surround under warranty. No big whoop.

Tried that last time and they wouldn't because it was not damaged physically and "fixable" ie paintable. Maybe I'll bitch a little louder this time (if that is even possible)....

Anyways, I believe those pieces are NOT painted from the factory, so I would be in the same situation....

Sounds to me like you need to find another dealer. I've never heard of a dealer wanting to re-paint a part that is easier for them to just remove and replace. Sounds like the service writer is jealous of your L. If it is re-painted, it will chip later.

I noticed the same thing on my stx its an 03 i just figured i would take it off this summer and fix it my self. I didnt even think to try to bring it to the dealer. I already have 34,000 on it and figure that they would say it was under warrenty any longer.

I'm not seeing it in that exact area, but I do have some paint chipping on the lower fascia on the driver's side. It looks like the previous owner popped a curb ir two to start up that action.

I also a a small area of paint peeling from the lower body molding on the passenger's side rear skirt. Luckily this one is in the wheel well area (where the rods mud and rubber hits it).

I have not yet tried to remedy these with the dealer though...

That piece IS painted from the factory. I bought one for my silver F150 and got a silver one. They just have to order the right paint code. It comes with the grill in it.

Gotta thank my bud that works at the dealer for looknig out for me on this one. We avoided the body shop all together this time

He just told the service manager about what had happened before and the manager said to bring it and he'd make the call on it. Told him to order me a whole new one!

That sucks Dragon

No issue there I know about,
but my front lower fascia looks sand blasted,
and I have a spot on the pass side rear @ the step in,
where it looks like someone poked it with a neddle
like a million times !(@@$!(#$!(#)$#)@$)_@%$)%)$

Can't see it from far away due to the glass and shine of Black,
but each and everytime I wax it, it just makes me sick.....

Not anymore

They ordered it with the correct paintcode and it cam in unpainted. They looked up the number and the part numbers have be supersceded by the unpainted one. They are painting mine as we speak. Guess I will plan to take it back in again when this one starts flasking too
