Is it worth it

is it worth it to run with the bed cover on or off, will I get more drag with it off, will I gain a little because of the less weight. Just a thought, I hope to run this Friday if it doesn't rain for the 4th Friday in a damn row and want to hit a 8.2...thanks

For comparison sake, I've run with the tailgate open/closed, the soft bed cover on/rolled up - and believe it didn't make a bit of difference. Especially not enough to notice in the ETs/trap speed.

As far as your hard cover.... it is true that for every 100lbs you lose a tenth. I proved that when taking my wife down the 1320. Ran faster w/o her in it - same temps, same 60', etc..

truedat...but if I took the cover off, hitch and spare that would have to give me a tenth...and hopefully since I'm so close to the 8.2 maybe the midpipe just and catback I just put on will get me there but with taking the weight off maybe...just maybe I could see a high 8.1, I would be very happy with that!!!

I would think with the mods you have you would have hit a 8.2 for sure. What are your 60's? I pulled an 8.23 1/8 with a 1.8 60' and I know I'm not pushing the power you are. What track in Texas are you going to? If you are in the Houston area, come to HRP this Friday night, I'll be up there.

lol..yeah sorry it is a bit big and I didn't mean to post it twice...just showin my love my plane.

01svtL - I'm hitting low 1.9's on F1's. It was my first time at the track with the L, not the track just the L so I was still getting used it. It's the 1/8 here in Abilene. The orignial owner said it has 4:10's, it really doesn't feel like the gears are low though, my speed is about 8mph though so I guess it has them.
