You may have seen my other thread describing the DJM control arm install.
Well, I installed the Hotchkis (old style 1" drop) coils with the stock spring isolator. The stock isolator is about 3/4" or so, whereas the Hotchkis spacer is maybe 1/4".
I started out at 18" hub-to-fender (1" drop from stock) with the Hotchkis coils and the stock arms.
After adding the "2 inch drop" DJM arms, using the Hotchkis coils and the thicker stock isolators, I came out with 15.5" hub-to-fender, meaning that the "2 inch" arms dropped me well over 2.5", because the thicker stock spacers added 1/2".
So, I added some 1" aluminum spacers. No joy. I'm now at 16 and change.
This is still too low. I want to be at 17"
What should I do? Handling is everything, so putting stock springs on is not an option. I know that I can get some Daystar 1.5" urethane spacers.
I have also toyed with getting some stiffer springs from Stan Martin. When alphadoggy installed his 1100 lb Ruslow springs with the stock spacers, he actually came out higher than stock. have I just answered my own question?
Any other ideas? I need to get this done right away, as I cannot drive the truck far as it is -- the alignment is toast.
Thanks
