how is it not a SLR. SLR stands for single lens reflex. that means that the viewfinder looks through the same lens as the picture is taken through. it is not a film camera, but it functions like one with light meters, adjustable shutter speeds upt to 1/2000, and interchangeable lenses with adjustable apertures.
brain, that pic is AWESOME. very, very nice. me likey
also, here are two of my favorite pics of my truck...resolution isnt the greatest, but i like it with the angle, background, etc.

TampaBlack99 I have to agree with you on the High to Low shots...they are the best.
Going to retake this shot with the new hood once I get the chance...

These are my first pics, unfortunately it was a cloudy day out but the resolution is phenominal. I downsized them from 1600x1200 for my gallery, if you're going to actually use them for anything, I can send the full size ones.
Love Zaino!

Don't confuse quantity with quality.
More pixels does not equal better pictures.
Take Rob_02's pics.
Massive chromatic abberations (purple fringing) and
blown-out (overexposed) highlights in the truck shot.
The fault of the camera more than the photographer.
And any shot wider than about 1,000 pixels really screws up a bulletin board message.
Here is the same shot scaled to a reasonable Web size,
levels adjusted, and sharpened:

The G5 is not a SLR for the reason you stated. It does not have a single lens reflex. SLR has nothing to do with whether it is film or digital (they have SLR's for both). Without getting to complicated, on an SLR, when you look thru your eyepiece, you are looking thru the lens. The light comes thru the lens, reflects off the mirror, into the pentaprism, and finally to your eyes. When you take the picture, the mirror lifts up and the cmos (or ccd depending on the camera) is exposed and records the picture.
In contrast, on point and shoot camera you look thru the viewfinder and out the other side of the camera, but not thru the lens. You are seeing close to what the camera "sees" but not exactly.

Is it the Digital Rebel (some call it the 300D)? I have one. Good camera.

Thanks, actually, I wasn't sure I was going to buy the ARE, but I remember it looking so good on your old sig. I love it now. Wait until you see it after this summer (or whenever I get the cash together), there's plans for the Bedrug, matching headliner, and some 12" subs (shhhh!).
