Don't confuse quantity with quality.
More pixels does not equal better pictures.
Take Rob_02's pics.
Massive chromatic abberations (purple fringing) and
blown-out (overexposed) highlights in the truck shot.
The fault of the camera more than the photographer.
And any shot wider than about 1,000 pixels really screws up a bulletin board message.
Here is the same shot scaled to a reasonable Web size,
levels adjusted, and sharpened:
The open hood shot was not well cropped.
Trim a little of the bottom (the radiator cover)
and a lot off of the top (who cares about the hood?)
adjust the levels
sharpen
and voila:

The best secrets for digital shots:
(1) Take LOTS of pictures -- they're free.
(2) Use a photo editing program.
When a photo comes off of a digital camera,
the job is not done -- it is just beginning.

This photo shows lots of problems.
1. It is not cropped well. Common mistake.
Not only is the background usually irrelevant
and distracting, but in this case depressing.
A dull winter day on a suburban street is not exactly
the stuff that dreams are made of.
2. The levels are all whacked.
The blacks are too light.
The whites are not bright enough.
3. The shot is out of focus.
Some sharpening would do wonders.
But the best bet is to take another shot.
No offense, teamsvt2002.
Your truck looks great.
And the composition is good --
the use of diagonal lines makes for a
more interesting shot.
It is just a good example some common
technical mistakes.
E-mail me the original and I will be happy to
do my best with it and return it to you.
>> 5 megapixel shot (Sony F-707)
>> plain, but interesting, background
>> taken at dusk ("sweet light" is dusk and dawn;
high noon is the absolute worst)
>> forced flash to light up the wheels and headlights,
make the grill disappear, and prevent the black paint
from blending into the shadow of the truck and pavement
>> diagonal composition for visual interest (3/4 shots are magic for cars)
post-processing (Photoshop):
>> crop!!!
>> resize for Web
>> auto levels
>> unsharp mask (sharpening)
Rob_02 -- my fingers are tired from pressing "enter" because
your GD 2,500 pixel-wide photos have the end of a sentence
off in the next county. Would you please go back and edit your post?
This is a great shot too -- especially the way that the road
fades off into the distance.
So I would crop it more to emphasize both the truck
and that cool strip of road below it:

But yeah i run 1600 by 1200 resolution and that picture is still way to wide.

Thanks grinomyte + Tim
Hell ya I had smaller ones, but some one said High Quality, hehehe.... I agree with Tim 100%, schitt sometimes it takes 20-50 shots just to get one crappy one with my POS Camera, (after adjusting them) and we all know I surely don't have a good camera, that was two random shots my little 11 yr old nephew popped off in my Parents Driveway one day with his new Camera, and e-mailed to me.
Best two shots I got, Sorry the File size was a bit large
THANKS GUYS I'll be using those for now on in

With the blurred background, I assume that it was shot on film?
