Stroking generaly increases torque straight across the RPM band but it does increase the Rod angle.

There are a few tricks to increase piston life like longer connecting rods but that moves the torque up higher on the RPM band.

I prefer longer strokes, short rods to make a screaming banchee.

There is no substitute for cubic inches. It just takes cubic dollars to keep up with it.
