Insulated or not
Insulated or not
Im building a ram air setup this weekend and i cant decide which hose to use. all i can find is insualted hose like a dryer, or just the plain bendable metal. what do you guys think will work better. will the insualted keep the heat of the engine out or will it heat up the air flowing through it. A little help is appreciated.
i have the PSP ram air, but have tried several hoses like you have. GOOD hoses can be found on www.pitstopusa.com, under brake stuff.
not sure if air has time to be heated in the tube - does not spend much time there. i have been monitoring my IAT with the Predator, making some minor changes like using DEI heat reflective tape on the outside of the PSP Fast Air box and sealing to hood underside. gave me my best consistency so far in bracket racing, and highest MPH. i'm actually below ambient with this setup, and this used the 'dryer' type hose, although it's a better one like on pitsop.
stick with non-metal hose. can't hurt.

I just bought 9 feet of flexible 3" hose today from a place in Tampa called Amazon Hose & Rubber company. It's a tough black plastic hose, with wire inside. Pretty much the same as the hoses every L tuning company uses in their cold air kits. Amazon deals in anything you could ever want to flow air, water, whatever. I'll be using it this weekend to make my own cold air system with the stock air box.
why not use automotive hose? You can get some serious sizes at the auto store, plus they blend in better in your engine bay than something that was made for a drying machine. You're only going to get x amount of air flow anyhow.... and from what I have heard, it doesnt do THAT much to begin with.
