ET Street Question

I want to get a set of ET Streets for the Lightning and was thinking of using a 16X10 inch wheel with 26x11.5 Tires. is this a good size wheel/tire combo? Also, is it safe to use the tires without tubes even though Mickey Thompson recommends their use. Are any of you using these tires without tubes? And what is their purpose is no one uses them? Thanks.

I would got with a 28" tire I lost alot of top end with 26" also a 10" rim might be to wide for a 11.5 tire that sis the section width not tread width if you go with 26"s you could use a 8" rim your choice if you were local I would let you use my 26"s see if you like them I am getting 28" hoosiers
Don't get me wrong 26" mt et streets helped me shave .2-.3 of et in the first 60' but ant the end of the QTR truck was screaming
Slick

Actually the 10" rim is perfect and recommended for the 26/11.5/16 tire.

The tread width is just under 10" @ 9.7" and is measured on a 10" rim in the following link

I went with the 28 X 12.50 X 16 on a 16X10 wheel.

I really don't see the point in the extra RPM really.I prefer to keep my RPM's on the low side.I'm not really trying to push the heck out of the truck.I guess it's just what you prefer and what you are trying to accomplish.

No you don't have to have tubes.

https://www.f150online.com/galleries...2680-39401.jpg Great tire.got low 1.6 60s.I have tubes in them, couldnt tell you how they are with out.Just make sure you bolt them on to the rim .they will slip on the rim if you dont.I'm gonna be steppin up to 30 inch hoosiers now since ive done alot more mods.I think the more power will be to much being the 26 kind of brings up your gear.

Loosebolt let me run his 28" hoosiers this last year. (both mine and his were at 18psi)
Compared to my normal 26.5" ET streets; I Had a better 60ft but the rest of the run was down in time and speed. One other thing I noticed was that on the big end the Hoosiers felt a bit more loose. (side to side sway). Not a biggie....

The ET streets do seem to need more of a burnout to hook, but then again they are a harder compound. Which don't seem to leave nearly as much rubber on the rear paint.

For now I'm still in the mid 12s and think I'll just stick with the ET streets.

Thank you all for the replies. There are so many opinoins out there. I would definately rather get a size that is as close as possible in height to my stock F1's. The tube issue still confuses me though as far as top end safety.
