I Ran The L For The First Time!!!

Went to Moroso Wednesday night for test and tune to see what the Lightning could do. The truck is COMPLETELY stock except for an AIRAID intake and was run on the stock F1's. Out of five runs the best two were both 13.8 @ 100 mph. I think these runs were pretty good considering the 2.1 60 ft times. I didn't realize how hard it is to race these trucks. I had to be so careful not to appl too much throttle off the line or it would spin badly. I was launching it as if it was raining. Next time I'll be back with some ET Streets and see if I can go 13.5 bone stock.

Not Bad I never liked the F-1s (I've got to heavy a foot and little control over it )
Wondering what rpm are you launching at?, tire presure etc.? try about 23lb in the F-1s heat them good in the box, straight to the stageing light "NO" dry hops, and come off the line just above an idle and roll into it fast and hard ( jut shy of stomping it) If the track is halfway preped you shouldn't have any spin and get your 60ft under 2

Also you can do a search but I think most have had better luck w the 305/18 nitto extreme drags than with the ET streets.

Good luck

Dont forget that Moroso just repaved the launch pad over the Christmas holidays. I had tar all over my fenders my last time out. Are they still making you drive through the water box? Last time I was there they moved the concrete barricades in so that you had no choice....ggrrr

I thought I saw a post from you asking if brake standing was bad for the L. You said in that thread you went through the water box. I can't believe they'd let you do that. The last strip I was at, you couldn't roll through the box unless you had slicks. If you had F1's, and went through water, even with the burnout, you'd still have a little water left between the treads. This water hits the track while your waiting for the tree, and bingo up in smoke. If you can, stay out of the water on street tires.

Good point also remember if you DO want to warm up the ole tires in the burnout box, drive around the water and back up into it with only the rear tires in the wet spot. This way the front tires are dry and wont leave a wet track in front of your rear tires=loss of traction. F-1's are good for at least 1.9x/1.8x 60' times.

I wish that I could have gone around the water. SonicLightning knows exactly what I went through yesterday. Ya see, Moroso just "updated" their track and now they have the walls set up so that you MUST drive through the damn water to get up to the line. They have made the walls so close together now that the waterbox is the exact width of the lane!!! This obviously isn't a problem for a guy running slicks ofr drag radials but for me and many others it was a real pain. They need to do something about that.
