Help with airbox mod, and a few other questions.

hello all,
well i am thinkin about cutting the bottom of the airbox and ziptying the K&N filter on. what does everyone think about this mod, well i be able to tell a difference, and is it worth the effort. Im going to the track tonight im in phoenix az. Some say in hot weather this mod sucks, being in phoenix its always hot so i dont know what to do. Tell me what ya think. Also is anyone else here from phoenix. And what are people running stock around here in the 1/4 mile. I raced an older mustang last night that said he runs 13.5 but i beat him fairly easily so im guessing he ws lying. Then raced a new wrx who said he had a boost controller, blow off valve, and an uppipe. He said he ran a 14.5 with a bad clutch. when we raced from a stop he kept up fairly well, the nose of his car was at the back bumber of mine. so what does everyone think?

i did the airbox mod but i cut 4 3inch holes in it and then put the KN Filter in it. I too have heard that its not going to help in hot weather because any air you get no matter from where will be hot. I think your better off with some sort of ram air or maybe one of the closed filter designs from a vendor or maybe even home made. Good luck.

get some 3" flex pipe for fresh air from the front bumper. Then cut 1 3" hole in the bottom of the box and attach the hose to it that way you get more air but its all outside "cold" air

I run this setup on my truck
