Help with Detonation Problem
Once you get the custom tune from JLP I am sure everything will be fine.
Also just as a side not make sure the plugs are gapped correctly, and that they are the correct heat range.
Also make sure not lean into the throttle until this detonation thing is fixed.
Good luck.

My L was detonating bad at 80+ in 3rd gear i installed the poredator and tuned it my self for time being untill i get soem extra cash and no more detonation its great. Go have urs tuned when u get a chance and try not detonate it anymore its not good at all for the enigne..
I reinstalled my factory tune am just going to stay out of the boost until JLP gets back to me with a custom tune. With my luck, i'll catch a redlight with every LS1 in town on my way to work today and won't be able to show them the SVT F-150 badge!
Yak.....sorry, but just so you know, custom tunes are no guarantee either. I've had three custom ones from two different tuners now... and its still just not 100% right--for one reason or another. --I still say the truck (2000) was safer with the stock Ford tune and a pulley than with either of the tuners first creations.--
At first, the stock Predator was BIG TIME detonation (with either the Performance or the Pulley tune) so I called the tuners. Two different tunes (one each from two tuners) were detonating just driving around easy. One tuner gladly sent me a second tune, which is actually 99% good! The other tuner, well I'm into my second month of waiting for a reply.
So, just this past Saturday, I remembered I never tried the supplied Pulley/90mm program that came in the Predator AFTER I later installed a 90 mm MAF. So, I first modified the file with full retard on the SprkAdv, 3% rich on the Fuel Base and .... Crap! Now this has turned out to be the best acting program yet. Go figure! I couldn't use either of the other Predator programs, but something must be quite different in the program for a 90mm.

What # pulley are you running? Plugs? I've got a 4# lower and NGK iridium plugs. Everyone says to gap the plugs correctly, but can you gap iridium plugs without damaging the iridium tip? I left mine as they were. Hopefully the JLP tune will set everything straight. I'm not sure about trying the 90mm pulley tune because i still have the 85mm MAF. So i guess we'll see what happens
You still haven't told us "which" NGK Irridium plugs you installed--what heat-range are they? If they're too 'hot', that could be a part of your problem too. And yes, the Irridium's gap can be adjusted, just don't touch the center electrode---or it will break. The ground electrode is all you should be forming to get the correct gap.

Yak....sorry again...delay of game penalty for me!
I have a 2000 with Cold Air Intake, 4lb pulley, Denso IT-22's, 90mm, FTVB, SilverBullet catback.
I posted the story about the Predator because I have indeed slammed them a few times myself -- after trying two of the 3 provided tunes--with disappointing results. I still can't believe that their pulley/90mm program is working out so well...they definitely seem to have pulled out some more timing (Hi Rob-02!) on that pulley program. Before, with full retard, it would still show at least 18 degrees. Now, with this program, it shows 13-16 degrees at WOT. Much better--No ting-a-ling. (But I'm wondering if the warmer weather is helping too--I might have to start bitching again the next time it turns cold!)
Please, though, even when you get the "custom" tune, listen real good the first time you drive it. I hope yours is good!
Spark plug gap was an adventure for me too. They came with no instructions. A look at the Denso website says " plugs come pregapped--no need to gap--could do damage by gapping" However, THEIR chart says IT-22s come gapped at .044,mine came at .030!!! This didn't work, you could often hear it "missing" while driving easy. So back out they came, &*#$%@), regapped to .041 (a happy medium), and no more missing.
Plus, about who to buy Predator from. Sal is awfully cool to include the cables you need for file up/downloading WITH the Predator. I don't know if anyone else does that...the last I heard, some didn't even carry the cables yet! I wish I had bought from him too---at least he might have answered my e-mails, unlike ???
And here's one more thing for all you Dueling Banjos/Burt Reynolds/Dukes of Hazzard fans......
