Raced a Supra last night

well i dont know if you all read my other thread yet or not, but I dont think my truck is running totally right after the ported eaton. Im gonna try and get to the dyno today, if not wont be able to until monday or tuesday... then gonna get a reburn...

anyway, i was getting gas last night and a toyota supera pulled up next to me... we started talking for a min and he said he really liked my truck.. i started to brag for a min (which was a mistake) and told him after the reburn I hope to be around 420hp... we then he told me all he has was exhaust and the twin turbo... but he had plans on doing some stuff this summer...

anyway, he got out of there before me.. so i hurried and stoped the gas and took off so I could catch him... i did... and we met up at the first stop light... man, I wish now i would have just stayed and filled up... he SPANKED MY A@@.... i was there for about 1 second... but after that be pulled on me like I would on a dodge neon or something... it was embarassing.... by the time we hit 90, i bet he was about 3 car lengths ahead of me....

so my question is... are these cars really that fast?? or is this an indication that something is wrong and i do need a reburn???

First they are fast. Second, he may have lied to you about what he has done to his car. I know I never tell anyone what I have done. I always say "just a cat-back". Third it really sounds like something is wrong with your truck from reading your other post. If your running a four lb. lower you should be seeing at least 15 lbs. of boost with a ported blower. Unless your chip has your truck shifting to soon for some reason. I'm seeing 16 lbs. right before the truck shifts.

My old BPU Supra ran 7.6 @ 93mph in the 1/8th. BPU is Supra slang for basic performance upgrades... which means downpipe, exhaust, and upping the boost by pulling a hose (18psi roughly). Sounds like the mods the guy you ran had, most do, so I'm guessing it was a high 11 second quarter mile car. Maybe low 12s.

My current upgraded turbo Supra has ran 10.1 @ 143mph in the quarter. I think I can get it in the 9s with some stickier tires.

The fastest "street" Supra has run in the 8s in the quarter.

So yah Supra's can be quick. You can mod the Lightning to beat a good bit of them, but not all of them.

These cars can be very quick, especially when minorly modded...

He He....great story.

There are some cars that I just will not race, Supra is one of them. They are fast stock and can be made very fast with relatively minor mods. You never know what you are lining up with. It could be stock w/ 320 (??) hp or modified with 1000. No kidding, there is a guy at our our school with a single turbo upgrade and a WHOLE LOTTA other upgrades. He's in the 900's at the wheels. Frightening.

Scott,
there is a reason that they still cost over $20,000 and they haven't been made in years.

Ok sounds ricey, but I've always wanted a Supra, even before F&F, I wanted a supra

I took my friends BPU supra from a 60mph roll on the highway. He is a horrid driver.

I also took a supra with a big fornt mount an he said "Everything but a single turbo" from a low roll.

Supras are dyno queens, it takes about 75 more rwhp for a supra to run the same time a mustang or camro would, because their torque curve sucks.

What do a 300hp supra and 900hp supra have in common? Neither can get out of the 13's!

Some can be very fast, but many have crappy drivers who don't really know how to use all that car.
