Line valve MOD ??????
Line valve MOD ??????
Hey all,
Just got done installing a line vavle mod, 4X4 pan and changing tranny fluid. Well, when I got the vavle out it looked just like the one that was in the truck already. My question is: are there visible differences or do you guys think the mod was already done? Well, I was very disappointed with the results it shifts OK but seems to lunge forward kinda like stock. So now I am kinda worried about the way the tranny is shifting ........Shouldn't it be shifting alot harder with the MOD......chirping 2nd at least? It honestly shifted harder with just the chip modifications before and the valve I took out..... Please advise.............I know I need to go ahead and get the complete vavle body. I just had the line valve mod laying around and figured I would run it while I save for the complete vavle body.....
Thanks,
Chris

Yea I-menace,
That's what I thought. I am hoping that nothing is wrong with the tranny. I was not expecting much when I saw that the new valve looked just like the one that came out of the valve body. Is there anything that would be causing it not to shift harder???
Thanks,
Chris

You checked your tranny fluid after?
Did you torque down the VB to specs?
...you should feel a difference. With a chip it's more noticeable, because most tuners program out the torque reduction, so that 1-2 shift is much quicker.
My FTVB shifts better than I could ask for

Hey guys,
Yea the fluid was good.....ended up putting 15 quarts back in. as far as the torque specs......I did the best I could, I didn't have the specs so I guesstimated. Like I said before I believe I took out the same valve that I just put in so I wasn't expecting much....I just think that it shoud be shifting harder then it does with the MOD done......I am hoping that its just a soft shifing tranny or something......I am definately not an expert on trannies...
Thanks,
Chris

15 quarts? - that seems like too much. Can someone confirm. I think you have to use a flush machien to get that much out. Usually it's 7 or so quarts....??? if you only drop the pan...

ummm baker.....i did the same thing as you with the fluid....i put back in what the specs of my manual said...but in reality only like 7 or 8 quarts actually came out of the truck.....you should really make sure you don't have too much in...
also, i have the line valve mod and it chirps 2nd all the time.....my question for those who have the FTVB, can you also have the VB in addition to the line valve mod or not....Greg are out out there??

Yea guys I put 15 quarts back in. I did drain the coverter and probably got about 15 out of the tranny. Although I did not measure the old. The book says 15L which is really close to 15 quarts. There are 946mL in a quart. Also, with the 4X4 pan supposedly the capacity will be more. To be honest with you it didn't look much bigger then the stock pan it just has a lower portion where the drain plug is. I added 8 quarts at first and was nowhere on the dipstick and added a quart at a time till I got where it says hot on the stick......and the truck was hot. Also, I don't hear alot of people talking about putting the 4X4 filter in when they do the pan change, or they don't really mention it.......I did go with the 4X4 filter becuase the pickup is longer to reach in the lower portion of the pan. I am going to try to take a picture of the valve that I took out tonight and post it if I can get it to work......
Thanks again for all the ideas,
Chris

is it common to get a chirp all the time, cause mine doesn't but I have the mod done too. It was already on the L when I got it. It does shift a little hard but I never get a chirp...
The FTVB already includes a Line Mod valve in it, but Tim is incorrect, I do make the rest of the valves in the valve body in house, but the line mod valve is purchased, (I pay less than $15 for them, if that gives you an idea of how overpriced I think some are, and the one I use is better than almost all of the ones I've seen)

Just kidding, I stand corrected by the boss!

Hey Gregg,
Just trying to get in touch with you about the email you sent me a couple of days ago concerning your FTVB. Let me know if we can still work something out......
Thanks,
Chris
