I bought a new ranger in 1994 1997 and now just bought a 2004 for my business as a shop truck for running around townI called a dealer told them what i wanted (basic 2wd model in white)I did the whole deal over the phone and didnt even look at it until the paperwork was signed .First of all,I love these little trucks.The big suprise was when i picked it up.I cannot believe how much power these little 4cyl trucks have!! The truck screams!! i wouldnt be surprised if it was a 15 second truck!! The truck does 85mph in 3rd gear!! (shuts off at 92 though)And it gets there pretty damn quick.i know this might sound funny to you guys but i have had enough 4cyl shop trucks to know when one is fast. After actually popping the hood 3 days after i picked it up,i was very suprised to see they are 16 valve engines.Now i understand why it is so quick.Does anybody know whan they went to 16 valve??Anyway,If anybody needs a little truck,These trucks are great.

just for the record,my 94 would NOT go past 75 mph unless you held it WOT for an honest 30-40 seconds. in 4th gear.You put it in 5th anf 70mph is all you see

My 97 was a much peppier trick but in NO way compaers to this new one.I wonder when they changed them? I can honestly say,i would put this truck in the same power range or speed range as an earlier 4.0L ranger.
