Need help with starting truck

Well, I unhooked my battery to clear an ses code. Cleared the code but when I went to start my truck it would not start, the hood was up. Didn't think it mattered. Well, finally got ticked and decided to close the hood. Figured I would try it again and it cranked. So, if I kill my truck and leave the keys in it and try to restart it , it will not crank unless you hit the unlock button on the keyless entry remote and then it will crank. I could deal with that. But now, my truck will not crank unless I hold the little black button on my drivers kick panel with my finger and turn the key. As far as I know everything is stock and does not have an alarm. I don't have any keypad if it does. I do notice that the theft light blinks continuously. I've tried resetting my computer and does not work. Any body know what the deal is. Does all lightnings have the little button on the kick panel. Looks like the button is supposed to touch the door while closed, which would make it start. But there's now way it would touch, there's about a 1/2 in between the button and the door. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I 'think'(don't know) you're going to have a dealer reprogram your PATS/key.

The hood has nothing to do with starting--not starting.

NEVER leave your key in the ignition when you do a battery-disconnect.

The button you are holding. Is it pushed by the door? If so would your truck start with the door open before this? I have no clue .

The door doesn't touch the button. Yes the truck did start before without holding the button and the door open. I can't remember if I left the keys in or not. I don't think I did. I don't know what the deal was with the hood. I tried everything I could think of to crank it. Closed the hood and the truck started. I don't see any sensors that would indicate a circuit for the hood being open. I'ts a mystery. If you hold this button it will crank regardless of anything. If the key need to be reflashed, the truck wouldn't crank at all, right?

svt: sounds like you have an after market alarm system. (dealer installed?) the black button sounds like the "override" button for it,, which will only work w/ the ignition switch, to prevent a thief from overriding the system. Try cycling the key while holding the "button" in..... the light should flash or stay solid,, then try starting truck with out holding button. When you disconnected the battery the alarm went into a "safe" mode which causes this condition..... just a guess though
