what kind of pan are you going to use (stock...4x4 deep, moroso...etc)?

the type is dexron III/mercon.

NOT Mercon V

Def don't ask me, I'm still running around with the WRONG
fluid in mine

Good "How To" on it here, from a great guy
https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...hlight=install

Just ignore his rambling on, he does that from time to time
And DON'T LISTEN TO HIM ABOUT TYPE OF FLUID TO USE

Scott,

Are you draining the the torque convertor ( you can with a 99-00 L) and are you using a 4x4 pan? If you are doing both it will take about 16 - 16 1/2 quarts.

I just used the cheap stuff because I think Coastal makes some of the name brands. You can use a name brand or spring for the high dollar synthetic. The choice is up to you.

This is what it should say on the bottle unless it's synthetic.

if your using the stock pan you will need about 61/2 quarts, if your using a 4x4 pan you will need 8 quarts.

I did mine a few weeks ago, very simple install.
I also bought the 4x4 deep pan and used 8qts of the Coastal Mercon III.
