Installed my Factory Tech Valve Body

I got to say, this is a straight foward easy install.
A Big Thanks to Vinnie whom I got it from, THANKS V, U-Da-Best

I got smart this time and did it in the street on blacktop.

(Something tells me I can do great photo choping w/ this pic)hehe

Taken the pan down without draining it (yes I reused the fac pan)
was not as bad or messy as I thought. I did what they said and removed all bolts but the 4 corners, then removed the rear two corners and it starts draining quite clean right into the pan.
Then after it all stopped coming down, I simply removed the last 2 and took the pan down with a good 3 quarts still in it. Simply tilted it into the huge pan I was using, and wam, it was down.

Buttoned her back up

and WAM, I was done
A real piece of cake install

Believe it ir not, I haven't tested it yet
I pushed it off the ramps, added 5 qts, went up and down the
block a few times and parked it.

Don't worry You'll know when I test it

Rob,

It should take about 7 qts. with the stock pan.

Make sure it totally warm before you top it off.

It was easy but messy.

The instuctions said 5, but I wanted to be safe,
so I checked it, I first drained the pan into a 1
gallon empty antifreeze container, then there was
only a little left in the pan, (maybe 1QT).
I bought extra fluid, I'll take it for a nice calm ride
later and then check it again, Thanks.

Rob,

I was thinking mine took about 8 qts. with the 4x4 pan. I think the 4x4 pan is suppose to add about a qt.

It doesn't matter, 5 qts. is a good starting point. I wouldn't drive it much until you get the level right.

Let us know what it really took to fill it with the stock pan.

Rob, Be sure to work it through all the gears to include reverse.. also be sure to recheck tranny fluid level on occasion over the next say 200 miles. You will possibly see that you need more fluid. Apparently, it takes miles/use for the fluid to settle in so to speak.. 8-) I know mine needed a tad more..

I stand corrected, it looks like you guys are right, sorry Chuck for doubting you. But here's the weird part.
Fact: The instructions say 5 quarts.
Fact: I filled a 1 gal container and had only MAYBE a qt left in pan.
So I only took out maybe 5 qts

Before I said I put 5 qts in and I did, but then I wen't out for a ride and check it again and it wasn't even on the stick ??? WTF
So I added another qt, now 6 new qts total in (SO FAR) and I took it out for a nice looooooooong ride. Did a little shopping stopped for gas, went to the bank, bla bla bla,, point is IT WAS HOT. Just got home and checked it again, and it seems I still may need more ???? WTF I only took out, what I took out ???? There's now at least a qt more in than I started with, and it's only up to the "fill cold line" ???

Anyway,

HOLY THE TRUCK GOES TOTALLY FRUCKING SIDEWAYS
AT 1/2 THROTTLE BATMAN
How the hell am I suppose to drive like this ???
At regular throttle it's firm as hell, but comfortable enough
for me to say, ok I can life with this on the comfort side.
But when you get into it, even only a little, HOLY SCHITT
the first time I was convinced the tranny was slipping, but it was the tires spinning. I know that because I turned into the bank and crawling alone my gluey tires were picking up every piece of sand dirt and gravel I went over.

Then I pulled out, squared up, rolled a bit, and went maybe 1/2 throttle, this time when it hit second it smoked the tires for like minutes "OR SOMETHING"
The SOB went totally sideways, I had to get off it
WTF, me not likey that, me wanna stomp it, and stay stomped

I pray in warmer weather and warmer roads, this will bite
and stay bit,
WILL IT ?

I took the instructions to say START with 5 quarts for stock pan. You then start the L, work it through the gears and take it for a ride... I think some say they used/added a tad more and ended up using 6 quarts or a slight tad more. If you look at page one it say 6 quarts for stock pan.

First Line of last Paragraph

AND I QUOTE:

For the deep pan, you need to start with 6qts of fluid,
the stock pan needs about 5.
But your right, in the first paragraph it does say 6.
I really got to start reading the instructions more, hehehe

I now have 6 and may still be low, could I have been low on fluid
to begin with, I've checked it many times and never was ?
On a good note, the fluid was beautiful that came out,
as good and spotless as new, the magnet had a small small amount of filing's on it, but an extremly small amount and less than I would expect to see even on a easy driven L.

As for the sideways shifts, I'm sure on warmer ground and a
little practice, I'm gonna really Love This

GREAT PRODUCT GREGG, MY HAT'S OFF TO YOU AND YOUR PRODUCT

Rob, In our warm NY weather you will grip much better. Only caveat I have about the FTVB is FORGET about trying to drink an open/partially open/or topless container of coffee while driving that L anymore.
Chitttttt coffee will fly out of that cup and go everywhere!!

If you have increased the line pressure via the chip, take it OUT.

Other than that, P-R-A-C-T-I-C-E Ronbo

I installed my FTVB and 4x4 pan/filter today in the 03HD.

I believe Gregg was trying to say install the FTVB and START with 5 quarts immediately after install if you used the stock tranny pan.

Work it through the gears, drive it and then add fluid to FULL level on tranny dipstick when the tranny fluid is HOT, you are on level ground AND the truck is level and in neutral!

As I mentioned in an earlier post you would see the fluid level was down after driving your L ... THEN you fill her up to full level. I have read half a zillion posts and it seems 6 quarts is the final amt. # for the stock tranny pan. By the way, I as you stuck with the stock tranny pan and Gregg said that was aok. Personally, if I was in say Arizona I would go with a deep tranny pan. I opted to stay with the stock pan as I am in NY and also did not want to wave a red flag to the dealership that I had a FTVB..
