JDM exchanger question...
JDM exchanger question...
I was mounting my JDM exchanger today when I found that my box didn't come with any bolts... I heard that the JDM exchanger bolts are normally larger and you have to drill the existing threaded nuts out.
Well, as a fix, I went out and bought some longer length bolts that were the same size as the stock bolts and use them to mount the exchanger. I read something about two washers, but I have no idea where they were supposed to go. I put two washers over the bolts, and then threaded them through the exchanger into the stock welded nuts.
Anyone see any problems here? Are the bolts I have no strong enough? They were "M6x10" metric bolts.

Maybee they changed the design since they first came out. I know on mine we had to drill a larger hole and then used a bigger nut and bolt, with a washer on the bolt and a lock washer on the nut side.

I installed my JDM heat exchanger last weekend, I did the same thing you did, I bought longer bolts and some washers to mount the heat exchanger, I also used a little loctite (sp), I also replaced the factory hose clamps with regular hose clamps. its been on a week now and no problems.
