I wouldn't be scared of his mods. I would be scared of the standard tunes they are putting on the Predators. It is risky to run a 6#er without getting it on a dyno to see what your particular truck is doing with a "standard" tune.

I went to the dyno the other day to get some A/F #'s. A friend brought his cobra that was still using the pulley tune off of the predator .
His A/F was 17.0:1 above 4200 RPM. We thought there may be something wrong with the A/F gauge, cause I would of figured he would of melted a piston.
But then we did my truck and it the gauge worked perfectly. Like everyone is saying do not use the Predator Tune.

hope he wasn't running it like that long.
Just goes to show how much of a chance you take with anything less then a dyno tune. If you have a tuner in a somewhat close area, make a weekend trip out of it and get it done. I drove 7 hours each way to have mine done, so if i have a problem, at least i know i did what i could to prevent it.

Is there a way I can find the close tuner near me or all they in NJ?
I have seen allot of posts about the factory tunes on the Predator. The A/F's in every case were way too high. IMO, you would be silly to not have one of our vendors put a custom tune based on your mods. I have a JLP tune in my Predator, and it has performed flawlessly. I'll be hitting the dyno in the next couple of weeks to verify the A/F's.

. Actually, some of the KY guys are kicking around the idea of bringing me down to KY for a tuning session. Maybe you can talk to them about it.
They can put custom tunes on a predator for listed mods, but it's still for the average truck with particular mods. Every cat is a little different. Some are way different with hidden problems, etc. I remember seeing where some dude couldn't stop his from detonating with like 12 degrees of timing and a rich A/F. It is well worth the windshield time to get a dyno tune, if you're going to push the envelope (as we all do

Very Sorry n7goodrow
That really really sucks
Even know I'm a die hard Diablo Guy, and I think they are the best Chip Company out there, I still agree it does seem
their standard off the shelf tunes are outright dangerous on the Predator, you are prob one of 10 OR MORE that have already blown a motor using a stock Diablo Predator tune in the last few months. AND every one of OUR TUNERS tells people NOT to use them.
If I was you, I'd get a few of you together and sue their socks off. And don't anyone go giving us the B/S you wanna play crap, we aint talking about Ford here, we're talking about a company that gives you a tune for a MODDED MOTOR and as a result of THAT TUNE has been blowing Motors left and right directly related to THAT TUNE. ISN'T THAT WHAT YOU ARE ALL SAYING RIGHT NOW ?
I've been playing Russian Roulette for two yrs now,
BY NEVER HAVING A DYNO, and running 6lbs of pulley, and running 75 HP of Juice, and running 16-18 degrees of timing, and having tach pinning 6000 RPM shift points,
and having torque reduction shut OFF, and by having the Rev Limiter set at or over 6000 RPM) and doing Long Parkway WOT runs even to 130 MPH PLUS in 3rd gear, (overdrive off).
So I'm sorry I DO NOT blame it on the "STILL NOT PROVEN" 01/02 is weaker rod B/S, I believe it's always been about the A/F.
I DO NOT EVER RECOMMEND NOT GETTING A DYNO,
I just think I do my homework, I build extra safety in my tune at least 3 separate ways, and I've been HEAVILY involved with each of my ten tunes SO FAR. AND I INSIST THEY RUN ON 93 OCTANE. AND JOHNNY LIGHTNING IS AN AMAZING TUNER
He's the one that took me to 12.5 / 12.3 / 12.2 / 12.0 / 11.81
OK AND I'VE BEEN REAL REAL LUCKY
BTW
JLP runs specials as low as 3300 - $3500.00 for amazing Short Blocks. Right now his site is showing $3900.00 (they may have gone up) ???

I keep telling him to charge everyone an extra hundred, so when mine blows, I get my Shortblock for free

Thanks for all the condolences guys.
Just need to make a plan to make the bottom end "bulletproof" so this doesn't happen again anytime soon.
Can anyone with a dyno fabricated a custom tune or only people who have the appropriate software?
