Question L tuners, please respond??

I just heard something today I found troubling if true. I was speaking with someone at my local speed shop. They specialize in Mustangs and have a dyno. I called to see if I could get the L dyno'd to check my tune and see if my A/F's are in a safe range. He asked what mods I had. When I told him I was running the Denso IT22's, he said I should take them out. He said that platinum and irridium plugs are designed to sluff off, and that you can't read the plugs to see how your tune is. He also said that you can get higher A/F #'s at the sniffer due to the plugs.

Is this guy full of chit, or do I need to switch to a different type of plug? From reading on the forums, it looks like allot of guys run the Denso plugs. Any input would be appreciated.

It just sounds like he doesn't have experiance with the Iridiums. It's true you don't want Platinum plugs in a blown motor (NO idea why Ford uses them in the Lightning), but the Iridiums don't have the issues that the Platinums do. Nothing to worry about.

Hey Mart Man, relax brother, smoke a dubbie
OR SOMETHING

Thouands of us are prob running Denso's,
I prob recommended them to you.
for the record I got mine from Sal, (he let me run right over to his house when I toasted 3 TR-6's) and I am STILL ON THE SAME SET I was running 13 sec 1/4 mi passes with when my truck was only a few months old. I worked my way through the 13's,
12's, and into the 11's with THE SAME PLUGS and have thrown at least 8 very diff set ups at them along the way,
including Nitrous of course.
My Baby still idles, runs, and performs Flawless dam near two years later. The funny part is I keep a spare set at all times,
and prob will never need to use them.
AND WE ALL KNOW WHERE MY RPMS ARE AT SHIFT POINTS
DENSO ROCKS

The electrodes on the platinums are so tiny -- what excatly do they define and soughing ?

The actual platinum - iridium parts of the plugs are so minute that if the actually sloghed anymaterial off there is NO way they would last the 50,000 - 100,000 miles advertised....

Hey Rob, FU J/K Bro. I don't think you'll have to worry about your ***** sloughing unless you try to run it on the dyno. A real girl might have an effect also, but we both know that Gator's getting all the women, and you've been on the solo tour.

I think I just got even, OR SOMETHING

Platinum vs. Iridium

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the platinum plugs. However if you are planning on racing your truck around a lot you might want to switch over to the iridium plugs. Iridium has a higher melting point and is more conductive than platinum. Thus not breaking down as fast due to the high temp. of your engine. You probably won’t notice any difference between the two unless you have a really tricked out engine. They will last longer too.

Platinum plugs hold the heat and can cause detonation, iridium plugs run cooler, thats why there better for our trucks.
