Cool First dyno run chart

100% Stock 2004 Lightning

93 Octane Amoco

No big deal, just wanted a real baseline so I can effectively measure my mods...

How many miles are on your truck? I have a new 03 with 450 miles on it and wonder if it makes a difference getting a dyno done at say 1,000 miles as compared to 3,000 or 5,000 miles on the engine.

I guess you got one the good ones. What was the Temperature and humidity when you got your dyno done.

Mine stock pulled 317 Hp & 478 TQ in 83 degrees and 53% humidity. Then in 71 degrees and ~39% humidity it pulled 355HP & 413 TQ with the only mod being a E-Fan & Airbox mod. All #'s are SAE corrected.

Sorry about that. I should have thought to list the atmospheric conditions...

The chart has the temps listed (around 70*F) and the humidity was around 84%.

I'll say one thing, that baby sounded awesome once the blower started kickin' !!!

I love my L !!!

Thanks, Rob02 - I know my #'s are wimpy compared to all the gurus on this site, but I am learning and am planning for more fun in the future. A personality flaw of mine is I like to see real evidence of improvements; thats why I wasted my $60 dynoing a stock truck...

I have just over 1250 miles on her now. I've been running her around to get her broken in, and figured now was as good as time as any to test her.

My dyno guy saved my data so when I go back (after mods) I'll have a good baseline for comparison.

Got my Predator, cold-air, FTVB and pulley today. Just gotta make some time to play...

DAMN!!! not wasting any time with the mods huh?

I want to get mine dynoed this spring to do like you did and get a base line. In a month or so I will get that FTVB as well...

Now, the FTVB dosen't really add any horsepower right, just makes for better shifts and less wear on the transmission?

That's what correction factors are for

The #'s also seem a little low to me. I typically see 340-350 on a dynojet. Were these done on a dynojet or some other dyno?

Correciton factors are not as accurate as you think.

Never said they were accurate, but they are the only way to normalize to a certain temp and pressure. Otherwise, no one could compare at all to anyone else

fractaldragon -

I don't know anything about dynos. The dyno I went to today was a Dynojet Model 248C.

Maybe I didn't get something right with my test ?? I thought the factory HP was 380 (crankshaft) and I had 334, so it was about a 13% loss throught the drive train ?? Is that not good ? From what I have been reading online about drive train losses, I was expecting around a 20-25% loss.

I did notice that the dyno had been inspected in January and had the state issued sticker ?

Like I said, I'm learning and all of this is new to me. Any info is much appreciated...
