Painted Calipers
Very easy to do, I just hit the caliper with a wire brush and used newspaper and masking tape to "cover" what I didn't want painted. High temp engine paint works for me, especially at $3.99 a can
btw.....its been on for over a year

I have done this on my Mustang twice. I Covered the fenders with some old thin blankets. I then used as butt load of newspaper to mask every thing else. It really took me about twenty minutes per side because of how careful I was. I bought the high temp Duplicolor 1200 deg paint in red from work(AutoZone) and sprayed about 3 coats on each one. I would always wait about 20 minutes on each side before I would add the extra coat. I then added 2 coats of 500 deg clear coat. Turned out great and I still have em painted. However, when doing brake jobs it is very possible to chip paint if your not careful.
I would like to say that if I did it again, I would rather powder coat which is what I will be doing to the L. The only thing is you have to take apart the caliper and then rebuild it. I really want to do a stainless caliper since my wheels are black. Anyone know of a stainless/polished caliper out there for the Lightning or a way to get it polished?
LumpyCamSVT, I've seen some black vehicles with red calipers...I thought they really looked sharped. Silver could probably work as well. I'm in the same boat as you....not sure what color to go with.
I used the Duplicolor paint that looks like anodized aluminum. Worked great; no problems yet.
Frankly, aluminum foil is easier to work with as a masking mat'l than newspaper.

like Gator was saying, wire brush, news paper and tape. I used some disc brake cleaner also when it was dry. I think I did about 3-4 coats of high temp white. They do get a little dirty if it rains...but Eagle One wheel cleaner makes them look freshly painted every time.
Keep some laquer thinner handy incase you get paint on your rotors...it will come right off and wont hurt anything, just spray it with the brake cleaner afterwards.
