What to look for when buying a used L??

Guys,
I'm thinking about buying a used 01 or 02 L. My question is what should I look for to see if it is in good condition. Obviously it's pretty easy to tell if the outside was taken care of, but I'm talking about the motor and internals. I don't want to buy a ragged out Lightning. Are there any signs that I can look for or that I may feel when I'm driving it? Thanks for your help.

My opinion (probably different than most) it to obviously look for a good body and a non chipped L if possible. Next, I looked for excessive rear tire wear. This meant the thing was driven. Still running without bad sounds= strong stock motor. If you're going to mod it, this might increase your chances of not breaking. Mine was this way when I bought it with 10,000 miles on it. Big boost for the last 20,000 miles too. If you want to spend a little more, look for one with a built motor by a reputable builder. If it has a built motor, the guy most likely is an enthusiest and would be a safe bet. Good luck.
