Concern about over porting the Eaton S/C

For all the vendors that port our Eatons... I was speaking to someone today and they mentioned that if the discharge side of the blower is over ported.. it is possible you can loose torque...

Can anyone shed some light on this??

Porting ANY complex geometric shape for improving airflow characteristics is going to have effects.

This is where the difference between a guy with a grinder who *thinks* they know what they are doing and a shop that's done real R&D will come into play.

My money went to a shop who did the real R&D.

My gains with my A.P.E. (Apten Ported Eaton) were across the entire RPM range. I think that there are a few people that port eatons and the end result looks just like what Apten did for me.

I would imagine that the copys are getting very similar results to the Apten job.

Hey Sharp shooter...not to jack the thread (sorry Luz!) but what kind of Lightning scene is there around Charleston? I'm going to be in the shipyard for the next two months. If you do any racing, email me at m112boost@hotmail.com

As long as the company doing the port job doesn't remove too much material and the geometric configuration of the outlet is correct you should be okay. I looked at a few ported blowers before I attempted to port mine. I took the best design from many companies and combined it to make mine badest of the bad.
