Step by step blower R&R

Just incase some of you are worried about doing this job yourself, here is a step by step guide.

First I removed the intake boot. Then I disconected the EGR tube (I used a 1.25"open end. It fits perfect since I don't have a metric that size). Remove the S/C belt. Then I removed the throttle and the cruise controll cables. One cable snaps off and the other you open the T/B all the way and it slips off. Remove the throttle return spring. Remove the bracket for the cables using a 10mm socket. There are two lock nuts that hold it on. You may have to loosen one more bolt with a 8mm socket to get the bracket out. Then remove all wires and vacuum lines (only one wire harness connected in two places). It's real easy to leave the vacuum lines laying so you can tell where to put them when you are going back together. If not just mark everything with masking tape and and code it with differnt colors to show you where everything goes. Next remove the six bolts from the upper intake. All of these are the same except one. It is much longer and goes in the front hole on the drivers side. Use a 1/4" drive 8mm wobble socket to remove all the bolts from the intake. Remove the intake and be carefull with the gasket. Set it aside. Remove the rear bolt from the boost actuator using a 10mm socket, I use a deep socket and it worked fine. This makes it much easier to remove the rear nut and bolt on the driver's side. Remove the four bracket hold down nuts (two on each side) from the S/C. Lift the brackets off the studs and lay them aside. Now remove the eight bolts that hold the S/C on with a 1/2 deep 13mm wobble socket. If you have an air rachet it will be a piece of cake. The bolts are long and have a ton of threads! Lift off the S/C and make sure the gasket is ok. Remove the boost actuator and install it on the new S/C with just the front bolt. Leave it loose enough so you can rotate it out of your way while you are working on the rear bolt. To install the new S/C reverse what you just did. Make sure you install the bolts with the studs in the correct places. On the drivers side it the first and forth from the front and on the passenge side it's the second and forth that get the bolt with the stud. I did not have a torque wrench with me so I tightned it up in three stages. Then install the rear bolt in the boost actuator and set it correctly. I did this without air tools and without wobble sockets. It can be done but I don't recomend it. This is a job almost anyone can do. Don't let someone take your money, get out there and give it a try. I hope I did not forget anything.
