? about slicks I got

Hello to all. I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me.

The rims and slicks pictured below were given to me. The tires are MT ET Streets, 26 x 11.50 x 16LT.
I'm not 100% positive about the rims, but from searching some threads here, they look to me, to be American Racing
Baja rims.It also seems, from various threads, that most prefer a 28" tall slick.
Currently I am running the Nitto drag radials on the street and at the track and am very pleased with
their performance.
1. Having the choice, would you prefer to run the Nittos at the track or would you run these MT ET Streets?
2. Because these tires are only 26" tall, will this change my rear gearing significantly? My truck is an 01 with the 3:73
gearing. What ratio would this be with the 26" height?
3. Finally, what can I expect at the track with these slicks, lower mph, with quicker E/T or would it be vice versa?

Oh yeah, I also received tubes with them but they are not installed. The MT's are screwed to the rims right now.
Would it be better to run with the tubes in them? I would suspect that it would be the safest way to go at the
very least.

Thanks very much everyone.
Dave

I don't think anyone on this forum runs with tubes. If you can't hook with the nittos then give the slicks a try.

I use to run the 26" ET Streets. I ran them on the street, as they hooked better than the F-1's.

But at the track, it was different.
I don't know if it was the "shorter" tire than lower my gear ratio or the compound. But I always would spin the ET's off the line, no matter how hot I got them.

Then I went to the 28" Hooisers and have been very happy, up till this point. Like I said, up to this point!

Now Iam thinking of moving up to the 30" Hooisers. Basically, what Iam trying to say is, I haven't a friggin clue

damn..........now Iam starting to sound like Rob now

if you were sounding like rob you would have said
to adjust your timing to compensate for the smaller
diameter

Dave the main problem with the 26" tire is that you may run out of RPM at the end of the track. They would be great for the 1/8 mile, but are to short for a 1/4 mile track.

For a 99 or 2000 with 355's they would be ok

I always crossed right at 5500 rpms.

My shift points were at 5250 also.

3:73's in my 01.........same tire setup as above.

Dave..........until your in the 11's those tires are great. FYI........your effective gear ratio is 4.09:1 with 26" tires.

I got tubes in my ET Streets. I have never spun mine on a launch, but I am still slower than most. 1.75 60ft's on 28x12.5x28 ET Streets.

Dave,

I agree with Soap.

the 26s will be O.K. till a certain point.

Try them and see how it goes.

I'm a pampas ***, my head is swelling, and I feel I have more power than EVERYONE ELSE so I need a taller slick.

Plus I'm soooooooo afraid Rob is gonna Whoop my *** and brag about it all over the internet
