Angry My first Apten dyno...disappointed :(

Just got back from my first dyno with my Apten ported blower. I expected to see much more gain than I did. While it is true that my previous dyno was high for the mods I had at the time, is still expected the 25-35 rwhp gain that people have seen over my previous numbers...

Prior #'s 398/481 SAE, 408/491 STD
New #'s 415/500 SAE, 419/505 STD (best pull)

The only things that were changed were I gapped my plugs back down while the blower was off from 0.045 to 0.040 and I had my chip reburnt as my A/F on my previous runs were 12.2-12.4. I hit 11.8's today. My tuner told me that my previous tune was still using the stock fuel curve too! And I still put down 398.

What's up with this????

WIll post dynos in a bit after I get them scanned

what all was done during the reburn? Timing change by chance?

Cool

The hotter the burn the more power that is released. And running a 12.2-12.4 ratio makes for a VERY hot burn. Too hot on a stock Lightning motor.

IMO, your before numbers were skewed because that lean of a burn would only serve to hurt you in short order.

Now you have some solid numbers that is very reliable.

ANY LEAN TUNE WILL BE FASTER, EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT
WHY DO YOU THINK 2 YEARS AGO MOTORS BLEW EVERY WEEKEND
If you don't know I'll tell you, because we had 1/2 *** so called tuners putting peoples A/F's in the hi 12's. Some even set A/F's
in the 13 A/F's.
EDIT
(NONE OF OUR TUNERS)

Sorry you feel cheated but the Diff is in the RICHER TUNE
and you should thank your lucky stars for it. With A/F's in the mid 12's it was only a matter of time before it threw a Rod.

CONGRATS on your new SAFE Tune AND IMPRESSIVE #'s

YOU GOT YOUR 20-40 HP INCREASE, YOU CAN BET ON THAT
But Unfortunalty you CAN NOT compare the two dyno's when
A/F was changed, plugs re-gapped, and as mentioned, who knows if the timing was changed

Dragon, look at it this way, You saved your motor by getting
that TOO aggressive tune out of there, you toook away power,
and yet STILL GAINED HP + Torque with the added Apten

As everyone has pointed out...you answered your own question. That is a pretty good change in the program.

Your comparisons are officially screwed now. On a brighter note, your running more H.P. with a safer tune .

Yep, also weather conditions, cool down times, tire pressure all affect dyno charts.

As the others have stated, a 12.2-12.4 A/F is pretty damn aggressive. You've picked up 11rwhp and 14rwtq with an A/F that is a FULL HALF POINT FATTER! This is a good thing. Also, find out what kind of timing is in your "new" tune. Timing makes a huge difference in the power production of these trucks, HOWEVER too much timing will cause detonation, and we all know what that means.

Bottom line: Try not to be too discouraged over the dyno numbers. It is really easy to get caught up in these numbers, and they're only a part of the full picture.

I'd be willing to bet that when you get that bad boy to the track, you'll see a noticeable gain in the performance of the truck. Furthermore, the more mods you add to the truck, the more the ported blower will shine! Goodluck!

Just had mine done yesterday and my #'s were real close to yours.

Prior #'s 380/435 SAE, 390/447 STD----- (Apten, CAI, E-Fan, Pred.)
New #'s 417/485 SAE, 430/499 STD -----(with all the above and a 4#, New tune for the Predator.)

Unfortunately my A/F #'s progressively lean out as the RPM"S increase. My #'s start at 12.2 A/F and at close to red line it was up to 13.3. This was done with a tail pipe sniffer. The dyno just got the tail pipe sniffer so I think its right.

Believe it or not Brian, before the reburn when I pulled a 398, I was still on the stock fuel curve with my 4# lower on! Timing is supposedly at 14 degrees now....not sure what it was prior.

Yes I am very happy with the A/F on my current tune. The former tune was a little too lean for me. I have been told that my previous dyno of 398 was about 15 hp high for my mods at that time...

LEAN IN MEAN

I hope it performs well at the track. Just got wheels for slicks. Installed my new boost gauge last night and I am hitting 15# right now

Leaner is meaner!

You're safer now w/ more power...I'd be happy with that.

15lbs with a 4lb lower is one heck of an improvement....Yours looks to have given you every bit of the gain the rest of us are getting.....

By the way....who is doing the tuning on your chip? Sorry if you already answered this.

Dyno:

A/F: Top two match the above dynos. The other lower ones are from a 2nd chip I tested today which was very rich.

Yikes!

Fix your A/F immediately! If anything it should start at 12.2 and get RICHER!

I thought the Predator would allow you to fix that?

If I've got everything straight, all you have is a 4# lower, an Apten ported blower, and a tune, and your in the 400/500 club. I can only say.

I'd love to be there.
