How to?
How to?
Ok, How do you remove the rear brake rotors? Is there something special to it or what? I took the wheel off, and unbolted the caliper. I pulled and bumped on it pretty good with a rubber hammer, but nothing.
How To
I had the same problem Casey. You are going through the removal process correctly. Here's what I did to remove my rear rotors.
0. Make sure both rear caliper bolts are removed along with the
rear caliper housing brackets. (I believe it's 2 bolts total)
1. Use WD40 spray or something to loosen up the rusty outer
rotor hub.
2. Use a rubber mallet or hammer to tap the rotor clockwise or
counter clockwise to loosen up the rotor. You can also hit the
top portion of the rotor clockwise or counterclockwise.
3. When hitting the rotor, please use a thick piece of clothing or
cloth to protect the rotor metal from scratching or denting.
4. Continue step 2 from behind the rotor as if you're trying to pry
your rotor off.
5. Finally, I placed my truck on two jack stance to hoist the rear off
the groud. I pretended my Lightning was on the dyno and I
began to spin the rear wheels upto 80 mph. This totally
loosened my both rear rotors. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE STEP
5 DUE TO THE RISK INVOLVED, BUT IT WORKS PERFECTLY FOR
ME. Hope this helps Casey. Use your Lightning's TQ to loosen
the rotors. LOL!
