Oil question

I have an 01 with 38K miles.

I have an oil leak. The leak gets part of the oil pan wet, its not leaking puddles on the floor.

I checked the oil level about 2500 miles ago and it was fine. When I checked it Sunday it was 3 qts low. I am not smoking, and don't leave puddles where I park. Where did it go.

No mods.

I bet its in your intake. Take the rubber intake boot off and see if it is full of oil.

I will pull it today. If that amount of oil was sucked in, I would think it would smoke.

Could be the passenger side head gasket. Many '01 models develop this problem. I had mine replaced 15K miles ago due to an oil leak and "burning oil smell". Too bad your warranty just expired! Good Luck!

I still have 62K on the ext. warranty.

It looks like its not coming from the top, but just the pan gasket, that has been replaced before.

I pulled the boot, and it had oil in it, and the T/B.

01 Lightning have you had any oil leaks since you had the gasket replaced?

I have had a truck or two that used/leaked more oil that this, but they had over 100K on them. Not a "new" truck using 1 qt every 1K.
