Thumbs up Outrageous Performance=Outrageous Performance

Recently, I tripped over an unbelievable opportunity. I was able to swap my stock longblock out with a built shortblock with fresh '03 cylinder head assemblies(stock, but with the 8 threads per sparkplug) for literally a FRACTION of what it would have cost me otherwise. The owner of the truck w/ built motor was trading it in. Furthermore, he threw in a PI 2400 stall converter. Now, I had a motor to more aptly handle the boost levels and tune the KB is capable of delivering.

I had spoken with Tommy at Outrageous Performance upon ordering a line lock for the truck some time back, and was really impressed with his customer service, and knowledge of the L. It was obvious that he thoroughly enjoyed the hobby, and seemed to take a personal interest in his customers.

He asked me if I'd give him a shot at tuning my new combo, and so I did. He has gone above and beyond what I would have expected from any vendor in helping me to get the new combo dialed in from 2000 miles away. This past weekend, I took the truck out for its first Test & Tune, which was 150 miles away. The truck made the trip with nary a whimper, and turned a best of...

60'......1.624
1/8......7.282
MPH ...95.67
1/4.....11.359
MPH....120.44

I'm not saying that these are earth shattering numbers, but not too dadgum shabby for stock heads/cams.

On the dyno she produced 532 RWHP and 627 RWTQ(11.8:1 A/F). This is with the KB pulley combo of 4# lower and 3" upper, which yields 17-18psi. Furthermore, the truck runs and drives like a stocker at part throttle. At WOT, this thing pulls like there is absolutely NO FRICKING tomorrow, and will leave two long black marks from nearly any throttle position.

I just wanted to say thanks to Tommy for his part in helping my truck to deliver truly OUTRAGEOUS PERFORMANCE! No pun intended.

Later,
Rob

Sorry 'bout the novel...

Rob, those numbers are great! 100% stock heads putting out those power numbers and that kind of ET if GREAT! Judging by the dyno numbers I think the truck has some in it with some more track time. Tommy is a great guy and has some great tunes for these Lightnings and Cobras. Can't wait to see how you do next time out. Throw some more boost at it! -Mat-

Way to go Rob!!!! That truck has better times on the way. Get some 30" tires or 3.55 gears, with that mph you are running out of gear at the end of the track. It may also help you with a better 60ft which will also help.

Here is the dyno sheet some may be interested in. I have since cleaned up the A/F a little.

Thanks guys.

The 502/591 pull was with the 4# lower and 3.2" upper(15psi). The A/F sniffer, flung itself out of the tailpipe, thus the "U" shaped A/F graph.

Hey SLVRNBLK, great numbers. Tim, awesome job on the tune. You know I have it really good where weather is concerned compared to you guys on the East coast, but you guys really have it going on with the tuners.
