Tell me man, when you were walking the paddock to the club house how many people even looked at you, much less said hi?
I'm not done with open road but I will say, I totally understand why more people are not "into" it.

My feelings are in complete contradiction with yours, Steele. I feel that the people at these TDE events are much friendlier than those that I've met at drag racing events, i.e. FFW. Lot's of people talked to my wife and me at this event. In fact, my wife told me that she was surprised by how much friendlier the people were compared to the FFW's we've hung out at. Lot's of people asked about my truck; and likewise, lots of people liked talking to me about their cars. I would say that participants in these driving schools have a generally have higher level of trust and respect for each other. You know that you'll be behind, beside or in front of each other at high speeds. It's not like you just have to stay on your side of the line in drag racing.

Try doing some events with other groups. Wait, don't! You already found the best.

Yeah, what Edward said.
I did see a few people that looked like they wished a truck would not be allowed to run but on the whole most people were great. I even had two guy's come over after the event and tell me how impressed they were with my truck. One was a Vett driver and the other a Cobra Kit car driver.

him ... nothing passed me either !!! His only comment?
"I've never been able to SEE this course this well !!!"

Road Atlanta also is rented out by the same clubs for driver's schools.

Drag Racing vs. Corner Carving
Easily summed up in a comment I heard from Kenny Brown before an SVTOA On-track event.
"I prefer my adrenaline rush to last longer than 12 seconds."
