Wow, 8K maybe... for a totalled out vehicle. However, that is the price range for a very decent Gen1... food for thought.

Who ever told you those prices is nuts. I don't care how high of mileage it has........your talking about a $32,000 truck that is not even 3 years old.

don't give up hope, keep looking.

Here's my story.
A friend had his lightning immobilized immediately after buying it due to drunk driving. Jump ahead 3 years, still immobilixed at $5/day.

He wants to sell it, puts add in newspaper, everyone wants it, but NO one buys it because they can't test drive it.

I tell him I'll give him what he owes on it.
He says no.... jump ahead 2 weeks, he calls and says yes. I buy it.

1999 Lightning, 3000 miles, Bought January of 2003. Only thing I had to do is replace al 4 tires (flat spots)
Here's the kicker

$17,000.

So don't give up hope, keep looking you'll find a good deal.

BTW: it took me over 6 months to find my jeep wrangler, I bought it drove it 2 years and sold it for $2500 less than I paid for it.

No such thing as "FIRM". Everything is negotiable. Go offer him 16000, or 15000. Try, it couldnt hurt.
