Idle Quirk with 01 Lightning

Hey all.

My 01 Lightning, before any mods and at about 15k miles, lost any thing close to a constant constant idle when shifting between neutral and drive. While stopped and in gear, my truck idles in the 630 RPM range. When I put it in neutral, the RPM's increase to above 800 then immediately drop to about 500. After dropping to it's lowest point, the idle spped returns to the 680 RPM range. The dealer has checked the truck and said no problem. I would appreciate any input or direction.

Thanks

Try cleaning or replacing your Idle Air Control valve. With only 15,000 it shouldn't need replacing yet.

You have a carboned-up IAC(Idle Air Control) valve as Frank said. Your description is 'classic' for a dirty IAC valve. It's hard for me to hear that the dealer didn't suspect that. It can be removed and cleaned in 5-10 minutes or less.

I know you're going to ask, so here is a pic.
