Winter Blues...
People switching over to expedition rims and using winter or snow tires, how does the set up work? I'm assuming day and night compared to F1's especially with some weight in the back. I need a quick fix other than buying another winter car and wondering how this works or is anyone has some better ideas?

I bought a 1993 Toyota Tercel for a winter car, It has been the best mod that I have done for my truck. The money and abuse your L will take will make up for it in the long run. Rock chips, road salt and *****ty drivers are the worst thing you could do for a nice truck. Plus gas milage rocks.
Just get yourself a 500 dollar beater. It's worth it.......

Yep
I bought a $900 chevy beretta for the winter. Although I've still driven it probably 500 miles throughout the winter, I just can't stay out of it hehehe.
But with the beater, you don't "have" to drive your truck on the nasty days, which is nice.

Eh Yup, what they said
Except since last year I went through 3 Winter Beaters
and wasted well over 4K doing it.
So 2 days ago I dumped the POS Jeep and got another
new car (well almost new, 15K on it)
My new winter beater

I'M IN HOCK UP TO MY EYEBROWS, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME

My winter beater was bought for $300 and I put a set of used tires on it and new hoses and belts...........in the winter of 99.
If you look carefully and hard, there are good used POS around.
btw.........I've put 15,000 miles on her since 1999.

I think I'll name her "Leeann"

I bought some 16 aluminum Explorer wheels that were traded in at a Big O tire store. $200
Then bought a set of Michelin cross tarrain tires. $ 110 each.
A little weight and some comon sense and they have worked out well for winter driving. I used to drive from Grand jct. 250 miles each way over two 10k ft snow covered mountain passess without incident or accident.
Recently got caught in a fresh 4 inch snow storm with the truck empty and was surprised to make it home so fast. Just leave the OD off and let the engine do the braking.
Yes there is more wear and tear on the truck because of it but OH WELL. I didn't buy this baby to be a garage Queen.

I actually bought my Lightning as my winter/Daily driver. I have a set of stock 16" F-150 rims along with some BFG WInter Slaloms and it is great. Its just hard to hold back in the cold so I dont blow themotor since I am modded and -20 degrees and 15psi of boost dont mix
Anyone looking for a set of OEM 16 inch f150 rims with tires? They have a wopping 5000 miles on them since i lifted my truck. And if you dont need them, tell someone else about it. I am trying to get rid of the 4 OEM rims and tires and the spare with all the caps and lugs. anyone?
