He installed a few pulleys with the wrong backspacing.... belts blew apart.
He is currently working on having a aluminum pulley custom made that is identical to the oem pulley except for diameter, which needs to be slightly smaller. I am due one in the mail soon.

He now offers chrome alternator cases, sweet!

Mr. Alternator sucks. I installed his alternator. It had the wrong pulley or wrong backspacing and it tore apart my $40 serpentine belt. I gave him the info on the belt and sent it back to him along with the alternator and never was refunded for the belt or sent a replacement...IMO, that is bad business.

Now that you mention it, I did notice the pulley looked different from the stock one. I swapped mine out with the one from the old alternator. It only took me like five minutes.

The stock lightning pulley is larger than the one used on the Mr. Alternator alternator. By overdriving the alternator is probably how the Mr. Alternator alternator puts out more power...

Just look at the internals of your alternator and you will see it's a bit more that just overdriving the alternator. I understand be pissed about belts shreading as I have had 2 go on me already.

Switching to the stock alternator pulley will COMPLETEY defeat the purpose of a 200amp alternator. Tom at Mralternator explained to me about something to do with the alternator not wanting to spin slow at idle..... i would just call him up and ask.

I got mine at O'reilly auto parts, works great and was half as much as OEM. I did have to change the pulleys as it was a 6-rib but it botled in perfect and works perfect. Part number from O'reilly is 01-3689. Hope this helps and saves you some money.

I got an O'reilly/Ultima alternator when mine went out, it is a 130a, fits perfect and works great. Cost about half the price of OEM, I believe $170 after core exchange, although I did have to change the pulley before I swapped. Part number is 01-3689 from O'reilly but I don't believe they have any in Florida. Maybe try finding a parts store that carries Ultima.
