very easy to do, basic hand tools, should take you less than 1 hour. If you have the hitch still on that makes it easier jack up by the hitch to remove tension from the leafs, put another jack(or jackstands) under the rear end to support it once the shackles are out. do one side at a time. very simple. you may need a jack on the rear end to manuever the leaf back into place by raising or lowering the rear end. it this doesnt help do a search and im sure there are how to articles on this

Yes, a very easy mod to do yourself. If you want, you can just use 1 jack, and jack up the back of the truck from the pumpkin. I know you are not supposed to do this for fear that you may loosen the rear end cover and have it start to "sweat" fluid.

With the jack under the differential, raise it up about high enough to get jack stands under each frame rail in front of the rear axle (where they come down and flatten out). Let it down then and go to town on taking the existing shackles off. You'll need to jack up the rear end a little again to get the top bolts out.

Took me maybe 45 minutes.

driveway, 3 ton jack, two stands, 1 hour later your done, very easy, instructions etc. I recommend JLP's adjustable shackles.

Tit job, 35 minutes or so for me

http://www.fastndelirious.com/forums...s=&threadid=86

There's only one thing to explain, it's a no brainer.
"SOMETIMES" depending how you jack it up,
it may seem like it's impossible to take the bolt out,
because it hits the Chassis.
Reach up with one hand and push the now dangling
leaf spring up, and pull the bolt out with the other hand.
Repeat that to insert Bolt

Like my brotha ROB said, very easy job. Just leave the truck on the ground and jack it up from the tow hitch to relieve pressure on the shackle. Do one side at a time. Took like 1/2 hour to do mine. I also recommend the JLP shackles. If you have an '03 or '04, use the 4" hole. You will also have to flip the factory shims on the leaf springs to get the pinion angle correct. Otherwise you will have a really bad vibration.

I just installed my shackles today, it wasnt too bad...jacked it up with the stock jack, put the rear on jackstands held at the frame just where it comes down and levels out. Tires were still touching the ground, but BARELY. Took out bolts, old shackles came out easy, and new ones went in. I only needed a little adjustment to help the bolts come out, so I used the stock jack to lift and lower the axle just a little. EASY EASY. Mine are only 2", drop dont show much...but here are some pics.

Before...

And After...

Easy to do.. 30 minutes tops...

MOST IMPORTANT THING THOUGH:

make sure the rear tires are on the ground BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN DOWN THE SHACKLE BOLT TO THE TORQUED SPECS.
