Coil pack part #'s different ...
Bill,
This is the first time anybody has mentioned this happening so I guess we just didn't know what to tell you. I know that most of the time when the Part# changed the color on the top of the coil changed.
I know there have been yellow top, green top and black top coils. The only differences I really know about them is the color told which was the latest and greatest. Yellow was the oldest and black the newest. I don't know if anything really changed about them other than color.
I hope this tells you a little something.

billarf,
I work in the engine plant not the Lightning engine plant but the cobra engine plant. In our plant we pretty much use the same coils as a batch. However, if there is an issue for reasons such as supplier, quality, or quantity they may grab a different batch. What matters are that the out put is right. The cobra and the lightning coil packs look the same only the cobra's coil pack has the bottom rubber boot angled a little bit different.
Hope this info helps?
One more thing, your L bro's do care!
There are some here that would rather give a bro chit than help them. So your reply may have been a conditioned response!
Peace, Suavy
