MOre new Mods for my L

I figuered it was time for fans on the intercooler and a 160 thermostat not sure if it will much gains in raw power but it should help on my truck since it is a srteet/stoplight warrior with very rare track visits. I also blocked off my EGR.
I got some new tires last week and i had begun to forget what it was like to have enougth tread to pick up rocks in a gravel parking lot. As always heres some pics.

You need a stat that is like your stock one. That spring loaded washer on the end blocks off a bypass when the stat opens up. Blocking off the bypass forces more coolant to the back of the block for even cooling.

I know this because I asked questions about the washer on the end of the stat a couple of years ago. I was going to use the regular style like you have until I found this out.

wrong T-Stat

the washer and spring on the bottom of the factory stat does close off the internal coolant by-pass when the stat opens. Without the by-pass closed off after warm-up the engine can (and will) run hot because some of the coolant will by-pass the radiator and keep going round and round inside the engine heating up more each time around. This usually would happen more at idle or at low speeds
