Replacement Tires For Lightning

I just bought a Red 2000 Lightning and among other things it needs a new set of tires. I about fell over dead when I looked up the prices on a replacement set of OEM GoodYear 295/45/18 (from Tire Rack). Is there an equivalant from one of the other companies out there that might work as well or better than them? I'm considering a set of Yokohama Geolander H/T, but they aren't an exact replacement - 255/55/18.
Thanks,
Robert

let me guess, in another week you'll be complaining about your gas milage and the cost of gas in CA

look to spend almost 200$ a tire.

Nitto NT555's They are the same size as the OEM's and are just a little cheaper. I paid about $195 a tire for the front and about $160 for the rear. I don't think they corner as well as the F1's but they have only been on for about 3 weeks. I'm running NT55's up front and NT555R's in the rear. Just don't put a sub standard tire on your L!!

Yeah they are a really good tire for doing burnouts. I do have to ask. Do you know what a Lightning is?

the F1's on Tirerack right now are $191 a tire. I dont know why anyone would complain about that. You can get a full set for 8 and change. Enjoy the 10mpg

I don't know guys. His first post is to complain about something. Most people that buy an L are happy and ask for advice. I've got a brother like that who is never happy. I mean holy cow, 255's are even narrower than what comes on an Expy.

Oh well I'm going to watch the St. Louis vs Vancouver game. Enjoy

Boy, you guys are a tough crowd. I wasn't complaining - just asking a simple question. I've been a lurker on this board for a long time and now question myself as to why I bother sticking around. This board's search engine sucks, you guys are rude & don't even give a newbie a break. I have owned performance cars before, had an original numbers matching rare muscle car (back in the days before they were a big deal), hang out with a bunch of pro racers and I've never seen anyone cut into someone new like you guys before.
Adios
Robert

Robert, I have to agree with you that some of the replys seemed a little harsh, and you'll get that from time to time. There's always an a$$hole in every crowd, so hang in there this site as well as nloc are great. Lots of smart willing to help people. $191.00 is about as cheap as you'll find for f1s.You need a decent tire on a lightning. Good luck and don't give up posting.
