There's always an a$$hole in every crowd, so hang in there this site as well as nloc are great. Lots of smart willing to help people. $191.00 is about as cheap as you'll find for f1s.You need a decent tire on a lightning. Good luck and don't give up posting.
Just who are you calling a a$$hole? Nobody was harsh, just having a little fun. So now he is upset and calls the forum lousy and you Mr. 4 poster join in helping him. The point is that he did not say hello, how are you, nothing, with out bitching.

For your extremely close buddy here is how you make friends.

Hello, I just bought a '00 L. I love this truck. Say do you folks know where to pick up some new F1's for a good price? I've checked around and can't find anything under $200. Is this the going rate or should I look somewhere else? Thanks and BTW this board rocks!!!

Relax dudes, life is too shortl And BTW if he actually had been lurking for a long time then he would've known how much F1's cost, since it seems to a subject discussed weekly if not monthly.

Robert,

Your best bang for the buck is probably this:

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...odeIndex=40198

Nitto NT-404 Extreme 285/50VR-18 UTQG 420AA for $133. They are just about the same height as the F-1s, and almost a wash as far as width. You can also step up to the 305/55VR-18 for $148, but they are a bit taller. Some guys are already running these tires, and seemed happy with them for street use.

Just ignore the riff-raff...they smell fresh meat.

Robert,

The best price I found on new Eagle F1's was on Ebay @ $180.

The link is:

I'm a newbie as well and there is a ton of knowledge on this board, so ignore the BS and you'll experience the help and wise input you can get from these guys!

I didn't know that I needed to grovel before I asked questions. I'm a regular on another unrelated board and the key is not to waste bandwidth & just get to the point. I have owned this 'L' for exactly 3 days, I picked it up for a decent price, but I'm exhausted with all of the work I've been doing to it to bring it up to a minimum of running condition. I've driven it for exactly 14 miles so far, the tires are so bad that the front left is starting to split on the sidewall - I don't need to buy slicks, these don't have any tread left on them. The power steering pump is pissing out it's version of Niagra Falls & the rear-end leaks. I'm busting my butt because it's a labor of love - I've been looking for a truck like this for a long time and I don't mind getting greasy to bring it up to par. Even in it's current condition, it brings a smile to face every time I walk past it.

Thanks for the advice - I've been to eBay & am seriously considering buying the tires from there. I have an account at Tire Rack, but $20/ is still a good savings - since I can put the money toward other needed parts.

Gas prices? I don't care, I've had vehicles that got 4 -5 MPG, 9 on the highway when I kept my foot out of the loud pedal. My fuel bills for my highway vehicles are nothing compared to my fuel bills for my water toys.

I have Toyo Proxes S/T on my truck.. the Goodyear F1's lasted almost 25k miles on the first 2 sets, then i changed to the toyo's.
I'm almost up to the 25k mark, and they are almost halfway gone.

done plenty of these too:

They perform just like the F1's, but cost less & last longer.

$179 each @ http://www.treadepot.com I run about 35 psi in them.

You call that a burn out?

I have to agree with MHMCGILL. Maybe you should work on your intoductions Robert. You say your trying to save $20 per tire and then on the other hand you say your fuel bill for your "water toys" are high, so you got plenty of play toys.
Anyway, we ALL started out as newcomers. Good luck with your truck and you'll find that there are plenty of people that will help you with any problems. Its just the way you go about it

The Proxes look awesome. However even without having tried them on, I would tend to disagree on the performance.
Thread wear rating on F1's are 300 vs. 420 on S/Ts, i.e. the compund on the F1s is softer and as such they should theoretically have a better grip, right.

yeah, the F1's have a slightly better grip... but the Toyo's have better wet traction than the F1's!

theoretically, or something...

Awesome buddy!!!! Glad to have you on board. Personally I like the F1's. However I have nothing to compare them too. All I know is that I finally rotated my tires at 11k and the tread looked great. I should probably get 20k or more out of them. I would suggest that whatever tire you get, definitely follow that up with a good wheel alignment. L's are notorious for chewing up fronts that are a little out. Good luck

Another satisfied TOYO Proxies S/T owner........they are the quietest, smoothest tire I've ever used. A little less traction than F1s but better in the 'wet' and QUIET!

I suggest you get some control arm washers before you go get an alignment, and you will need to get the top adjustment stuff at the same time. A front end alignment is not as simple as it sounds. And the shop needs to have the wheel attachmens.
