Straight Pipes

Im thinking about putting straight pipes on the truck, i heard them on an L this weekend and it sounded awesome. But i dont know what they will sound like on the freeway, so i was thiking, could i dissconnect the exhaust from the cat-back, and drive around a few miles on the freeway like that to see if i like it? or will it damage anything? also, does anyone know if Straigh Pipes are illegal in cali? thanks guys.

There is no way that is legal in Commiefornia. Ur best bet for loudness and a lil less drone would Dynomax bullet mufflers. Straight through and good flow and pretty damn loud.

i had my stock muffler off for a week or so while i was waiting for my magnaflows. it sounds great when you're having fun, especially when you hit it, but its too loud for everyday driving and the drone is deafening (impossible to have a conversation).
