Denso Plug goes bad at the Dyno

The stock plugs in my Lightning and my buddy's 03 Cobra are iridium and are made by Denso. I even spoke to Denso at the Sema show and they confirmed that they make them for Ford. They are the Denso Long life and are good for 100K. The denso's you buy from Joe Tuner are a different version (a little more performance focused) but are only good for 50K max. The stock heat range is equivalent to IT16.
And Ford certainly doesn't pay $80 bucks for them.

The Plugs in the 99-2002's have been motorcraft platinum....
You would think that Ford or Denso would have marketed that change....
There is NO reference to any Ford OEM usage on http://www.densoiridium.com - IF ITS TRUE - what a lost marketing chance. Two HIGH profile vehicles using them from the factory.. Geesh

They are made by Denso but stamped Motorcraft.
Trackbeast, Im sorry but you are wrong. Motorcraft Plugs are not made by Denso. Also if you pull a Plug it clearly has the Platinium on it. The 1st run of 03 Cobras came with a 22 Heat range, from the 2nd run on they all have a 12 heat range. The Denso rep was prolly just stroking you and you took the bait and ran. Iridium(sp) doesnt last as long as Platinium, the only reason its better in a high performance application is because it doesnt hold the heat like a platinium plug.
Well.....I have over 25k on my IT 22's....And the truck still runs absolutely perfect....And yes I did gap them to .040 when I installed...I actually have a new set on my bench in the garage waiting to go in...I can't wait to see what the old ones look like...I will defenitely report my findings....

The new 3-valve head 5.4L motor has a different plug design. I'm not sure who makes it; but, maybe this is what the Denso rep was talking about. I saw a picture of it in Car and Driver this month. I can't find it with a google search though.
fyi, 03 cobras do come with motorcraft platnum plugs believe me i know since i have one and my brother does too. also i know 99-02 lightnings are motrcraft platnums. not sure bout the 03 or 04's but i seriously doubt ford are putting denso's in anything stock from the factory.
by the way i run the it24s and have had 0 problems even on some minor detonation they have held up very well i think for 22 lbs of boost.
