Is flipping the shim around on the 03 enough for a 3"-4" drop in the back? or is buying new shims required?

Flipping is what worked for me. The question though is how much did you lower the rear. With my JLP's adjustables I got about 2.25" lower. So for me the flip fit the bill. I am assuming you know that a four inch shackle doesn't get a four inch drop.

Got the shims flipped yesterday and it worked great. Hey MHMCGILL, I'm kinda bumed now. You said you got 2.25" lower from the shackles. Mine only dropped 1 1/2" from stock and I'm assuming from your sig that you also have a DSG '03. I measured the height of a brand new '04 from grond to wheel well opening and the stock one measured 34 1/2". When I got home I measured mine and it's at 33" exactly. How many miles did your L have on it when you measured. Mine's only got 2,300. Maybe the springs settle with time or miles. I do know that the difference from front to back is about 5/8" higher in the rear. How's yours?

You know I think that I did mine around 3000 miles or so. Are you sure that you didn't over tighten the bolts? I guessing that you didn't or you would have noticed by now. My truck does sit nearly level but the rake sounds similiar to yours. It is possible that I measured from a differnt reference point. I am pretty sure that I used the plastic moulding on the rear bumper.

Here is the pic just after I installed mine.

I may be F'd up because I didn't measure my truck before lowering, I measured a brand new one I just got on my lot. I took a tape measure and measured from the ground to the top of the opening of the wheel well dead center going right in front of the center cap. To measure the front to back difference, I measured fron the top of my center cap to the top of the wheel well opening. Front was 18" rear was just shy of 18 5/8". I need to take a photo like you did to see how it looks.
